We used to get most of our cards done in 1 day/night in eastend park. Bridgefield, cross green, fishermans hut, black dog, the spring close waterloo, the smiths, the hampton, the richmond, the slipp inn. Great times and many many other groups participating. Always a good topic for discissions and comparing cards 😂

Great memories. We started at the Tommy Wass and then via Churwell Hill up into Morley to get a good part of a card completed in one night. The Fleece on Churwell Hill is now a Tesco Express, but still has the old pub sign on a pole outside.

I completed two separate ones. Happy days.

Thank you so much for doing this. For some reason it came up on my you tube feed. As a West Leeds Boy. There is not a pub on this list i have not been in , so many memories so many good times. I have not lived in Leeds for a long time , but this certainly brought back so many memories of my youth and good times gone by. Thank you. thank you .thank you, you have made my day!

Another cracking video thanks, always love these old Leeds one. I was a little too young for this but out of curiosity looked up the T-shirt you posted as I like retro stuff, you can buy them online still but a vintage tetley pub hunt t-shirts are about £35 now!

Thanks for the memories. We completed 2 pub hunts. One in Leeds visiting most of the pubs featured. The second we did further afield using trains. On one occasion we missed the last train back from Bingley. Jumped on the first available bus back to Leeds. Fun times.

Brilliant idea. My pub run back in the day was from Leeds parish church..we then went up past where howarth timber use to be And would eventually come out at the side of york road .It was a well known pub run back in the day..many of the pubs now gone unfortunately.

I remember pub crawls in Hunslet. When the terraced houses were demolished, and before Leek Street Flats were built, only the pubs remained, like remnants of rotting teeth in aged gums. It was possible to walk/stagger directly from pub-to-pub, over demolition rubble. Those old pubs still had spitoons, and decanted the overflow trays back into glasses. I enjoyed the experience of crawls with friends, but I do not think I'd now appreciate the low quality and service of those dumps. I think I remember the Whore & Strumpet from the early '70s. We would oscillate between that and the Three Legs (might be wrong - memory is poor).

Yes I did the Tetley pub hunt and got the tea shirt,my family have had a lot to do with the pub trade my uncle Barry had The Prince of Wales at the bottom of Chapel Town Road which got demolished years ago for the new road,and my aunt Marry and uncle Alick had first The Ford Green and then The Pathfinder at Seacroft and then the Gascoin at Barick in Helmet,I am now 67 and left Leeds in 1967 when my dad Fred Collins who was a well known lorry driver got his first Tetleys pub in Castleford The Ship Hotel,we left there in 1969 when he got another Tetleys pub The Old Brownroyd Thornton Road Bradford,we lived there for about 9 months until he took over The new Brownroyd which was built over the road and then the old one demolished,he was the Landlord there for approximately 9 years,sadly that pub along with so many great establishments have now long since gone,they were happy days 👍

Thanks for adding that Philip, a lot of social history there. I once visited the Prince of Wales when my car broke down. I visited The Ship in Castleford several times - now lost, I think?

Bradford Saturday Night.. Leeds Road and into Town Centre was an easy ten. Student fun with my Ponte' rugby mates back in the 80's. Happy memories albeit somewhat blurred. Manningham Arms, Shearbridge, Jacobs Well, 2nd West, also all sadly gone.

Grew up in Tetley' pubs, Dad was the landlord of 2 Tetley pubs in Sheffield. We have family friends to this day that only came in our pubs due to the Pub Hunt, but became regulars due to Dad running good pubs. This takes me back. Thank you for this video.

We did the tetleys pub hunt a few times👍great fun.Our local was the Guildford Hotel on Headrow.If I remember correctly Pam and Brian ran it til 1980 ish Then Terry and Edna (from Bradford) had it til 84/5.It then got refurbished and lost its games/pool room and all its character😟

Great video some old drinking hole's that I have visited over the years, just an update to the Drysalters it's going to be a Costa Coffee, because drinking posh over priced coffee before an football match is the in thing these days apparently... not in my day... never did the Tetley Pub Hut too busy making and drinking it at the brewery, the stories I could tell, my god, you wouldn't believe....

Great work. Well done! Memories fom the days of the Cavalier Steakhouses: The Brown Cow( Whitkirk) Woodside Tavern( Horsforth,) Queenswood Arms( Adel) Deer Park ( Roundhay) to name a few. Hands up who went to Dick Hudson's in the back of beyond( if you were from Leeds) for a stamp?😀

Another thing Tetley did to promote their pubs during the 80s was to sponsor a troupe at the Leeds West Indian Carnival. They became The Tetley Crew. Oddly enough one of their members was a teetotaler. When the sponsorship ended they became the Cockspur Crew sponsored by Cockspur Rum.
@colinbailey75Ай бұрын
remember doing the Tetley pubs in the 1980s but none of the Leeds ones mentioned...I seem to recall there was a weighting depending on the remoteness of the individual pub.....so the ones in Leeds city centre only had a one pint weighting...but where we lived in the upper Calder Valley they were much further apart & were given 2 pint or even 3 pint weightings...
@GeogJuiceАй бұрын
Thanks for adding that Colin

I think there is an error regarding the Bridge in Kirkstall. This was a Whitbread pub at the time. I think the stamp on the card must have come from the Bridge in Horsforth at the bottom of Butcher Hill (also still open)

Thank you. I will give Chapel Allerton some thought. Harrogate is a bit outside the borough, but I won't discount it completely. That could be a very interesting video.

I did the tetley beer hunt,from wetherby, had to use my imagination, travelled to Thorner anywhere local,felt like giving up but I had a drinking buddy with car so managed to finish it& got the tee shirt, only did it once,it felt tacky once the novelty war off.though I once did something similar with the Yorkshire Post they offered a free half pint in a royal themed tetley pub if you bought the paper & cut the coupon out,my mate & I went around leeds news agents & got old news papers they couldn't sell.i seem to recall we got 11 unsold papers inside the train station for free,needless to say we both got shit faced for free on tetley beer we had about 11pints each ,that was a cheap night out,we got the odd funny look,but it was all legit & above board.you only had one night to use the coupons,I seemed to recall there was 8 or 9 royal themed named pubs.well worth it..
