My friend has one of those cots. He's a big dude ,6'2" 380lbs he got the next size up from the one in the video. Real nice sturdy construction. The canvas is thick and durable. The metal isn't cheap and thin. Great cot , but definitely not something for backwoods camping. If you are a weekender, car camping or setting up a hunting base camp then they are really great.

I use the Colman cot that is simular. I suggest a pad under it for winter camping. The sleeping bag is smushed under and loses insulation value. 15'F with a 0'F bag was chilly on the bottom. In a hot tent no problem. Great for storing stuff too under it.

I have been looking for some sort of an easy bed solution for winter camping. These cots look pretty nice but, as you mentioned, they are a little over the top to carry if you are doing any sort of hike. On our last trip, my wife and I constructed a double bed out of logs and it worked great; however, it took us most of the day to make the thing lol. Perhaps there is no easy way to get a bed when you are winter camping. It seems that nothing comes easy when you winter camp but that is all part of the joy, and sense of accomplishment that you feel when you are in the wilderness. Thanks for sharing!

That's epic I look forward to hearing how you folks enjoy your rest. My bed at the cabin is a cot and I've had guests before. So yeah I'm interested your take on comfort levels. I've found that because the middle sinks in a bit if you sleep wrong your shoulder will be stiff to the point it can't be used for a day. Laying on your back recommended. 2 people try for the same.

I flipped a quad 30 something years ago and broke my back, arthritis in my back today keeps me from being able to sleep on my back, have to sleep on my side, it's about 3-4 hours max I can sleep before my shoulders ache. I've thought about a mattress with a hole or trough in it for my shoulder to lay in, kind of hard cutting a hole in my mattress, but a cot would be easy to put a pocket of sorts for a shoulder to lay in... ya gave me an idea... gonna have to find me a cheap cot I can cut a hole in.

Been looking at those. I often get a sore back car camping and it's hard to get off the ground in the morning, and standard size cots are too small for me. I have a few other products of theirs and they make great stuff

The only way I've seen to carry a cot and save weight, is to just have a large tube of fabric. Cut a couple poles, hang it like a stretcher, sit it up on a couple logs or rocks. It would be a little more your style anyhow
