Alot of people don't know that the shadow man is like a combination of Nicky's (Player's) fear or trauma or scary thoughts about 'what could be in the basement'. The fear of the neighbor and the trauma when the neighbor kidnapped him, and in the finale act Nicky's mission is to protect his younger self and fight with his fears and traumas in his dream. And finally at the end Nicky (Player) manages to kill the shadow man. And in the credit scene, y'all can see Nicky (Player) is happy that he moved on from his fears and traumas, and he begin to live his life happily. Despite all of the glitches, Hello Neighbor is a great and emotional story, and it will never be forgotten ❤️‍🩹

In Alpha 2 I think the door underneath the basement door is the door used in the cutscene. The Neighbour and the player are used in the cutscene as well, so they may also be related to the cutscene.

it would be cool when Game 2 is finished or even my idea a game with his son (finding out about the crows and other misteriys, teased friendship with player or his deleted crush from his sister on player), when they would make a remake or an updated version of 1 and adding all the left out ideas (like school, hoshital, factory, pizza truck accident cutscene at the end with crow (?), etc) the pizza truck accident is cool, reminds me of the accident from Game 2

From an inexperienced developers POV, it makes since but mechanically it’s not a good idea if the boxes are expected to be climbed on. EDIT: think of it how stairs in Source games work. It’s better to use clipping for a smooth step rather than the actual steps which will make the screen “jump”. It seemed more logical initially until used in practice

Personally me, I find them really mysterious, they has some charm to them, unlike final versions. I wanted to ask you, could you tell the name of the music that plays in the background of Alpha 3? (the one around here 13:46 and further on) I really liked the sound of it and it did fit with the theme of Alpha 3 though.

there's also an older version of the upper floors in pre-alpha (guess it was meant to be modular like the houses from prototype and alpha 1), a few objects from an older version of the prototype (like a chair with a different design, a soap object etc., anything that doesn't have a texture, the saw from alpha 1 is among them, not sure about the slingshot) and a few weirdly placed objects (like the window in pre-alpha being completely in the ceiling, only visible by jumping on the boiler and crouching into the ceiling or the light pole that during some stages of pre-alpha spawns behind the neighbor's house) oh, and also the normal door below the basement door in alpha 2, it was the original door (as before the artstyle change there also was just a normal door) before they changed it to the door later used next to the water room in alpha 3 onwards, and the platform below the stairs is used while the platform that blocks the stairs is moving so there's a small window of time where you can run onto the second floor and the TV table (the one across the door that ends the game) in the basement is movable, just like in alpha 3 and onwards, although using a box icon and with a wrong holding position also, how did you activate the unlit mode in alpha 3, just out of curiosity

11:44 The doors and windows and stuff are missing because after alpha 2 they (unfortunately) switched to the more cartoony art style, which introduced new window and door models. This old map wasn't updated to have the new models, so it still expects the old models to be there. It can't find them, so they don't load.

When the neighbor buries you alive, that's one soul down. In alpha 2 he traps you in his basement, and steals your soul. I am part of the fanbase that prefers the older versions. I have well over 30 hours in Pre-Alpha, 8 or so hours in Alpha 1, but I spent just enough time in the other versions (including the full releases) to beat them. The only version besides the very first two that I have played through more than once is the first full Hello Neighbor

you probably already have talked abt this tho in “act 1” instead of running after the ball after you just started the game, you can run behind a white house where you can find one of those red error things. If you run into it you get teleported under the map into this kind of white long room with numbers on the walls. You barely get any time to react as you fall into the void of the map because the room doesn’t have any floor, but i’ve always wondered what the numbers mean. If anyone knows any video explaining any of this i’ll appreciate if you send me the channel name! :) edit: sorry if my english is bad lol
