I was at the perfect age and time to consume the entire rise of Vice. A lot of people complain about what vice puts out now but Shane and the whole crew put out hours of free entertainment that was like nothing else for years. May his road rise.

As a long time, lover of advice, it was great to finally hear the whole story Good luck Rick with the new podcast
@davidsvenstrup66883 ай бұрын
Rick: Tell me about the home you grew up in? Shane: That's a weird question ... Rick: really? It seems so straightforward... Shane: Really? Rick: Yeah :\ That was rude of Shane. It was a bit unexpected although I sense that Shane is not in a good place in life for some reason... he seems unsatisfied, jaded, a bit sullen and even a bit anxious. He also did not like the questions about whether he'd ever altered Vice's content to pander to an audience and if he felt like he'd ever sold out - His demeanour and mood seemed to shift slightly at that point . It is most certainly a regular, straightforward question and it's a good one... It tells you so much about somebody and usually, people will have quite a bit to say about their childhoods/growing up.
@georgeherren6063 ай бұрын
He definitely seemed detached and lacked self awareness. Also defensive for no reason? Like he was a rich jackass, trying to not sound like a rich ass, while trying to keep the peasants from judging his rich jackass-ness, while not even being happy from the wealth he's gained. it's weird to see.

I wonder what Shane was drinking. Interview started off great where his answers were complete and coherent and profanity free. By the end he was slurring his words and couldn't complete a sentence and every sentence had profanity in it. There wasn't an audio problem. Rick was clear as could be. A shame.

He lost me when he started with pro Taliban and Pro Putin Propaganda, claiming that there are two sides to every story but failing to mention the fate of women under the Taliban regime and the killings of the many civilians in Ukraine. And his understanding of global politics is superficial, repeating Putin’s false narrative without critically questioning it or without adding context. I really like the podcast format and what Rick Rubin does, but I think Podcasters should either stick to their field or ask their interview partners challenging questions and add some context. Otherwise it easily can become a spreader of propaganda and misinformation.
