A useful resource to add to your description is Tetresse. It’s a tool that won’t let you place pieces without finesse. In other words if you make a finesse mistake, it’ll tell you the correct finesse on a tooltip and let you place the piece again.

This video is great! I've clocked in hundreds of hours of Tetris over PPT, Tetris Effect and Tetris 99 and I've only just recently decided to get into learning proper finesse to help make my game faster. It's given the game a whole new lease of life for me. Alongside this I'm also working on getting my 40L sprint under 1:30 and then eventually under a minute. Every second I shave off feels so rewarding! I'll definitely be subbing to your channel so I can remember to check out your other videos.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I like how you break everything down and simplify things, but still are able to give good details. Tetris 99 was what got me into tetris, but I have been branching out and playing other tetris games competitively. I think I've gotten really good, but I've kinda reached my peak and knew I would sooner or later have to bite the bullet and learn finesse. Thanks for the upload, even now a few years later!

I can move my pieces fine and have a great idea of what to do with my pieces and thinking ahead of time but my 40L clear never went under 1min and turns out I have so many inconsistency. Since Tetris is such an old game, many of the folks you can find on the internet playing it are either absolute doofuses or absolute gods. In this comment section, though, it's nice to find some fellow souls of folks who want to get better at the game and are on the verge between the noobs and the pros. My PB is 1:39 on 40L, hoping to shave a full 40 seconds off of that after five practice sessions, then I assume progress will be slower! My advice: set ambitious goals, find some like-minded folks, and don't be distracted by other people's over- or underachievement! I find it most rewarding when I notice the self-improvement and allow it to feel good, rather than to compare it to someone who was in a different realm of skill the whole time.

Keita you're hesitating too much. Once you have a 4 block tall build and an I tetrimino is next, just plop it in. I know getting a double or triple tetris simultaneously is cool but it's impractical and that's holding you back.

This is my strategy. I have a left slot that is 1 wide, and a 2 wide slot above it. The 1 wide slot is for line pieces and the 2 wide slot is for L, square, T, and Z pieces. The right is used to raise the board. I find though that S pieces are the worst pieces. :(
@wawitetris5887
@wawitetris5887 5 жыл бұрын
1) if you just commit for the 2 wide rather than doing your hybrid setup it’s probably better for multiplayer 2) the S pieces for your setup can be paired with a T, L, or I. Every time you see S on your next piece queue, try to save one of the others to balance it out. gl! :)

playing 40L will get you faster at tetrises, but that may or may not carry over to tspin settups or downstacking depending on whether the limiting factor is your ability to decide where to put the piece or your ability to place the pieces. it’s up to you to determine what the limiting factor is in multiplayer games!

What advice do you have for PS4 players? I am pretty good at Tetris but, if I go fast, I will sometimes misdrop my pieces. It also will depend if I am versing a CPU player or another person. I got about 2 minutes in and decided to try multiplayer tetris. I went to tetris friends and made an account. And then proveeded to dominate (back to back wins) up until level 12 out of 21. Hi Wawi ! What's your point about playing with a controller such as "8Bitdo SF30 Pro" to games like Jstris or Tetrio ? I am a beginner, but I started to play with a controller, I feel more confortable with it. However, I want to be sure I don't have to switch to a keyboard in few months because I reach the controller limit. I struggle with using the preview queue 😓 I can't play very fast when I use more than 1 preview and i really don't feel like I'm getting any better at using it. I don't want to focus on finesse until I can use all 5

Shaiann A. on the contrary, finesse will help you use the preview because you won’t need to think about how to get the piece where you want it so you can focus on planning your pieces instead

I think a keyboard because you can use more fingers, but I’m biased :P
@poryg5350
@poryg5350 4 жыл бұрын
@@wawitetris5887 I'm not exactly sure this reason is relevant. It is not obligatory to use more fingers on keyboard, it is in fact mandatory if you want to have decent speed. You cannot have one finger handling directional movement, one handling turns, one handling hard drop and one handling hold and expect to be fast. The keyboard layout is way too unnatural for this. Keyboard would be really awesome if tetris games allowed hypertapping. Having two sets of controls, asd and 456 for directions, qe79 for turning left and right, space bar for hard drop and 8w for hold. But unfortunately modern tetris games make DAS fastest by a mile.
