Brilliant video, God bless the men who cut our turf, we'd be lost without them. We love our bogs up here in laois too, keep up the fight and the great work lads.

Unfortunately I think it's a losing battle but if the government had left is alone in 15 or 20 years time there would be nobody cutting turf anyway I think they've really shot themselves in the foot they are making complete clowns out of the Irish people thanks for your comments

Good man yourself. I found your channel just by chance this morning. I was brought up in Scartaglen and the bog was the best football training my brother ever did. Jump forward 30 years and himself only said the other day, You have come along way from your days in the bog.. The bog in my opinion was the hardest lesson a young teenager ever had. After that time in the bog nothing was impossible. Over here now in Stockholm and thank you. Keep her lit...

I have no doubt the bog was one of the toughest jobs I've ever had but I also have some fantastic memories but at the time like nightmares I know the local football trainer here where I am from St pats would take the senior theme to the bog every year to draw out the turf with wheelbarrows he said it was for training but they did win division 1 around 1990 I'm glad you're enjoying the videos

Fair play,,,, please do more videos as you have a great way of story telling and you make interesting comments on rural life in Ireland that is sadly going to be gone and its fhis videos that in some way preserve that history that the younger generations will have never seen,,,,,, so keep up the good work

Thank you very much great see at least somebody is enjoying the videos I have a couple of very interesting videos similar to that are coming up in the next few weeks I have done two videos of local Mills and local history you might find interesting they will be up in the next few weeks and I have another turf cutting video if not two thanks again for the comments 👍 😀 where are you from

Originally from Galway, but living and working in Germany for irish dairy farm and tillage,,, so I came across your video and it's a great way to keep in touch with home,,,,,,, and its a change to see a non scripted just natural way of actually explaining something that anyone can understand,,,,, i work with all types of machines so I do know what you are talking about,,,,,, but as some people are made for story telling which is yourself other people couldn't explain it as you do cause they get too technical and boring and so people will just not watch till the end,,,, but I'd have to say I'd believe most normal people would watch the videos you post till the end,,,,,, that's people now that's willing to learn something 😅

That's absolutely fantastic to hear thank you so much I'm delighted you are enjoying the videos .I was actually in Galway last Sunday Galway Racecourse for a Vintage Show there's a short video of the show there as well .an interesting fact I learnt in the last couple of days about cutting turf in Ireland apparently in 1937 the Irish went to Russia Germany and Eastern Europe to see how they cut turf mechanically Finally bought machinery in Germany and had it transported to Kerry where tree German engineers stayed until the break out of World War II where two of them returned home and apparently Were Never Again heard of the one that stayed lived here for years and I believe his son is now a priest in Africa and two other Sons played football for offaly

What a great machine , climate change is a very complex subject but net zero is not the answer to the problem the burning of turf is not going to have that much impact on the environment according to a few professors of planet studies
