Tevii Technology D720 HD60 Video Recorder

The Tevii Technology Co D720 HD60 Video Recorder sold on Amazon as the Clear Click HD 60 is a cool little HDMI video recorder indeed. It's small size with a built in monitor and battery make it the perfect device to capture HDMI video on the run.
The HD60 is of course ideal for recording game play but it can also record from set top boxes or a Roku. It can be used in industrial video applications such as presentations recording, iso cam recording, systems monitoring, software demos, just about anywhere you need to capture HDMI video without much fuss. I'm putting one in my AV tool kit.
Important Note
The mono mike input and headphone output are combined on one TSSR connector that adheres to a older OMTP standard so only compatible cables or converters will work. If you want to use use a PC boom mike/headphone or insert a mono analog audio signal into the recording you must use a compatible adapter cable. Below is a link to the cable.

I just bought one, love it, makes great recordings BUT i can't get the PC Storage mode to work so I can pull the files off without using the card. ??????????????

@@uraz88 It's just as good as your VCR quality! Also the better shape the tape is in the better. I've been copying old exercise tapes that have seen better days.........

Aliexpress is reputable. VHS encoding will be as good as the original, in other words not OK but not HD

@@NKDO_Channel so the quality is same as the picture from my vcr exactly? because i have another model called analog2d converter (AV480) it looks almost as this but on it you cant change the quality video settings,no hdmi connection and the hour date is not saved because doesnt have the battery, the encoding is on mp4 but it give you to much red color (saturation) so thats why i want change it with this..

I am having trouble getting an external mic to work on this device. Does the OMTP cable plug into the headphone port or the AV In port? There also seems to be an internal microphone on the device that kicks in sometimes, is there anyway to completely disable that? Thank!

The input of this device is non standard. I don't believe there is a mike inside the unit. If you are picking up a mike it's probably from a camera plugged into the HDMI input. To stop this press the volume down button to turn off the HDMI input. The mike input level is the left and right buttons as indicated. *I am a user and not a dealer or distributor of this product.

I figured it out. The headphones I was originally using had a mic on the headphone wire. It was picking that up. With this cable that's no longer an issue.

This is a really helpful review, thanks. I'm planning on using this device to capture speaker presentations by taking an HDMI feed from the projector. I will also try to input speaker audio or I will capture the audio on a separate device and sync in post productions using Premier. For slide Presentations what is the ideal resolution, does it need to be 1060?

@@winston1176 Yes when the deliverable is PowerPoint and audio I always use 720p, the resolution is fine for this application. I wouldn't count on HDMI out of the projector. A projector will usually only pass out the same signal that it is being fed. Hotel AV may use SDI or other cabling. I do multi room recording and the best place to put this recorder is in the lectern or under the stage. You can then take the HDMI out of the presenters laptop directly before it's sent to the projectors. In this set-up I have the audio operator provide me an XLR connection at the lectern or under the stage. As I pointed out in the video you need the proper 3.5 mm cable to input audio in the headset socket. If you get that right you can adjust the input level using the mic buttons on the recorder. I also use this as a back-up recorder when I am doing Video/PowerPoint/Audio webcasts. In this case I go full 1008 as I probably won't be using these files and don't care about file size.

@@WebcastingConferencescom So presumably when taking HDMI out of the speaker's laptop you are using a splitter so the AV company can also take a feed for the projector? What about laptops with no HDMI output. Do you use use turnarounds?

@@winston1176 I do carry HDMI 4 way splitters if required. I usually go under the stage were AV places it's HDMI Distribution amp and I take one of the outputs to record. For audio I always use a Sescom IL-19 Inline Audio Hum Eliminator to interface with house sound. You also need an XLR to 3.5mm adapter to go to the OMPT cable for inputting line/mike audio. Works every time.

how to upgrade it? my devide dont put video to stream, only audio. so downloaded tevii.com/Tevii_S482__S662_Linux_firmware.tar.bz2.rar , extracted Tevii_S482__S662_Linux_firmware.tar to usb, doesnt work, tried extract 3 files named like dvb-usb-s660.fw put into root usb catalogue, still nothing, device didnt recognized it as valid fw.

James Thompson I use it to backup PowerPoint presentations during live webcasts. Small physical size, internal battery backup, reasonable quality mp4 files and low price is why I like it. Lack of audio level meters makes it only useful as a backup device as we must use the analog mic input for audio.

@@WebcastingConferencescom Thanks for the quick reply. My application is recording the slides for live lectures, usually keynote or powerpoint depending on the speaker. A lot of speaker's laptops only have vga out, so use an VGA to HDMI converter, which seems to work pretty well. Looking for a new recorder as the ones I'm using have failed too many times. One issue I run into is that after starting recording, the speaker's laptop will die/reboot and recorder will end its session, then unless someone is there to restart the recorder, the remainder of the session is lost (and sometimes the part before too). Does the Tevil has this behavior also?

James Thompson Yes unattended recording is an issue if the resolution changes or there is a reboot. For unattended recording I use capture box pros. These have vga and hdmi inputs and they scale the input source to the selected recording file size. These recorders don’t care if there is a video source and will keep recording regardless of the input signal. You can change res, reboot or swap computers and they keep recording. I have run them for 48 hours constantly and never a hitch. There is an SDI/ HDMI version made but not sold in the USA. Check it out kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHK1aXiVrr-fq9U
