@@kennethbill6013 Actually there was a bumper once featuring a live-action diner with a cook that talks about all the "Eat at Joe's" signs. He says he's Joe and shows around the diner where all the CartoonNetwork toons were eating. This eventually gave way to a "Sheep in the Big City" commercial where Sheep was getting food in the Cartoon Network cafeteria. (Also live-action) Apparently, all the toons ate there, now. The server: "First day?" Sheep: "Baa." The server: "Sheep in the big cafeteria!" (Sheep looks up) The server whispers: "Stick to your own klind." Sheep then ventures around seeing all the dogs and one table, all the bears at another, Fred with the PPG (for some reason), and Velma takes pity on him. Velma: "Common Sheep. You can sit with us." Red (from Cow and Chicken): "Yes, go sit with the freaks!" (laughs) Velma: "Freaks?! Have you looked in a mirror?!" (stands on the table to address the room) Sheep: "Baa?" Velma: "Listen up! When it comes right down to it, we're all freaks! Every one of us! And that's what makes this network great!" Jimmy (from Ed, Edd, and Eddy): Who you callin' freak, freak? One of the darkest endings ever
@cjmarshall02215 жыл бұрын
I agree, but there's a couple of other endings that could match this one. The first is from another Tex Avery cartoon, starring Screwy Squirrel. Screwy became the companion to a huge dumb dog, who was clearly inspired by Lenny in "Of Mice and Men." The dog was always calling Screwy "George," and wanting him to be his "little friend." Anyway, the cartoon ended with the dog catching Screwy and saying, "I gotcha George and I'm going to huge you and squeeze you, and..." All the while, you hear this horrible grinding sound going on. The next scene showed the dog, now sad, saying, "Gee I wish I had a little friend. A little friend to pet and play with. I used to have a little friend, but he don't move no more!" The dog then pulled out Screwy, who is now all crushed and twisted out of shape. Screwy pulls out a sign which says "Sad ending, isn't it?" and then blackout. The second was from another MGM cartoon, which I believe was made by Harman and Ising. It featured a donkey - who behaved like a human - and was a plant doctor. The donkey found a termite in a tree and tried to get rid of it. Things came to a head when the donkey accidently injected himself with a plant growth formula. The formula caused the donkey to take root, plus grow branches and leaves, with birds building nests on him. The termite see the 'tree-donkey' and decides he looks pretty tasty. In the last scene, we see the termite, his sharp teeth bared, about to chow down on the donkey, who gives a frighten whinney right before the black out. The last one comes from Chuck Jones at Warner Brothers. The story involved an bull dog, using a cat and mouse in his unscrupulous schemes to obtain food. Every time the cat and mouse would return, the bull dog would say "What, you forgot the gravy?" One of dog's schemes results in him obtaining a pile of money. He uses his ill gotten gains to purchase a butcher shop, then runs in shouting joyfully. The scene cuts to the bull dog, flat on his back, whose stomach is now so bloated he can't move. The cat and mouse show up, with the cat saying, "This time we did not forget the gravy." The mouse puts a funnel in the dog's mouth, and the dog begs piteously "Oh no, please don't, no." To no avail as the cat begins to pour a huge can of gravy into the funnel right before the blackout... Just goes to show you that not all cartoons were meant to be funny.
