What a courageous and dignified lady. She had the fortitude to stare into the face of her daughters killer and totally vanquish him with logic, reason and truth. It was a privilige to see her totally destroy Tex Watson . May she Rest in Peace.

In the book Helter Skelter, it says that she pleaded with them to take her, let her have her baby and then kill her. She begged and begged for her baby's life. Not her own. They discovered during autopsy the baby, named Paul Richard by Roman, had not been harmed by the stabbings. He was perfect in every way and if medical attention had been there some twenty minutes of Sharon being stabbed, he may have lived. So unfathomable

It is an absolute disgrace that this ghoul Tex Watson is able to have conjugal visits and have children & a family. Another reason why the death sentence should never have been abolished. I really feel tremendous sympathy for Doris Tate & her family that they have to endure these ridiculous parole hearings every few years - it just reopens the wounds for them. Rest in peace Doris & let's hope Tex Watson never gets out of prison.

This woman deserves all of our love and support. There is nothing as difficult in this world and living with the knowledge that your beloved daughter was butchered while pregnant with a full term baby, your granddaughter by this monster who laughed while killing her. I don't know if I could have the strength this woman had to fight so nobly and with such dignity without losing it. God Bless her and Sharon's surviving sister.

I noticed who I assume was Watson's attorney while Doris Tate was talking. He was acting very disrespectful showing impatience while she was talking. This is a woman who lost her daughter and an unborn grandchild by the idiot that guy was defending. Watson did not get the death penalty that he deserved so his attorney could at least let Mrs Tate speak her piece without him making such impatient gestures. At least Watson is alive, more than he gave his victims!

Actually, he was responsible for 9 deaths, when you include Sharon's baby, who was due in only a couple weeks. Plus Shorty Shea, whose murder Tex particpated in as well, by stabbing him numerous times. Doris was a very strong woman to have kept her cool in addressing this monster who killed her beautiful daughter and grandson.

This was a parole hearing. Doris Tate was there to help make sure Tex wasn't granted parole and speak her mind. It's very simple, folks. Forgiveness is a separate and was Doris' own business. She said she did feel sorry for Tex...here is a guy that was allowed to have four children through conjugal visits while in prison. He was convicted of 8 murders.

Whether him or any murderer is reformed, remorseful, born again etc etc is IRRELEVANT.The punishment MUST fit the crime..and TRUTH in sentencing.Early parole and reduced sentence for good behavior are further crimes against the law abiding public. He's not worthy of even being in her presence.

May she rest in peace in Heaven, reunited with Sharon and baby Paul. My heart also goes out to Debra Tate, who has continued her mother's fight to keep these criminals in jail where they belong. At least Susan Atkins is dead and hopefully in hell where she belongs.

@MissLizaMay What's really sad though is that she "HAD" to spend much of her life trying to keep these animals away from her, when that was the responsibility of the state. Manson got a cell phone in his cell about 1 month ago and made calls to the location of know former family members. Debra was scared to death. This nightmare will never end for them, that's the sad part for me.

@SHRINA17 It's disgusting. Sharon couldn't have her baby and begged for her life and the baby's and they didn't show her any mercy (like Doris says). I mean what really gets me is that they were given death and then once the death penalty is over ruled they get life in prison WITH the possibility of parole. I mean life I could understand but parole? Really?! Thats not right. I'm just glad that Susan Atkins was denied parole before she died.

Watson has a family and how incredible how they live in that prison, they have EVERYTHING there, many many homeless people are dying in the prison while these people can do what they want, even having a family like Watson has. The whole prison system in the US is ridiculous. All of them must stay there, or better, I would lock them in a mine. By the way, all my respect to Doris Tate, what a brave woman and mother. If Charles Watson really was repentant, if he had just one stroke of real decency ... he would gladly accept what he did and also his fate and willingly stay locked up for all of his natural life. I agree with Steve Kay. They should consider themselves lucky that they had their sentences reduced to life. I'm sure, and confident that if released Watson and Van Houten and Krenwinkel would be model citizens, but that's not the point. The point is the nature of what they did and the way they went about it.

In the evening she went to her favorite restaurant, El Coyote, with Sebring, Frykowski and Folger, returning about 10:30 p.m.[1] During the night, they were murdered by members of Charles Manson's "family" and their bodies discovered the following morning by Tate's housekeeper, Winifred Chapman."--Wikipedia

@darilc1966 It is NOT Doris job or any other victim from this senseless crime to forgive Tex or any of the other village idiots of the "Family". She had every right to feel that Tex or any of other to be released on the street. They were given the death sentence and it was commuted to Life when the Death penalty was briefly overturned in California. It should have never been that a Death sentence was turned into Life with the possibility of parole. It should have in the very least been Life

She is trying to get some closure from this horrific incident in her life. How can you be so...cold? She shouldnt have to forgive tex watson or the others in this life. Maybe in that so called "heaven" of yours she will, and her and tex and susan atkins will all sit around on catch up on old times, but for now, closure is the word.
