Texada Island - Gillies Bay 🇨🇦

My grandma and my dad and myself spent our summers in Gillies Bay on Texada Island. You did a great job on the video! My best memories are of fishing for salmon at Sanderson Point. We always caught fish in the 1970's. My dad has talked about Mrs. Pook before. He spent the 1940 and 1950's on Texada Island water skiing and working in the mine in the 1960's. I'm going up there soon with my own son and we are staying at the same cabin that my grandmother's father built in 1930! There hasn't been any renovations so it is like stepping back in time. Thanks again for the video!

My dear old mom used to work at the Gillies Bay store for years and after work she always wet down to Mrs Pooks and had a couple of stiff drinks with her... I was one of the Gillies bay kids back in the 70s

We are the Stewarts. My dad's name is Craig and his two sisters are Diane and Margaret. Our cabin is next to Harold and Sandra Diggons place who moved to Canmore recently. My great grandfather's name is George Mckee. He is the one who built the place. All of my best childhood memories are of Texada Island summers in the 1970's! I recognize your name but I have to wait until my Dad wakes up to ask him about the Staaf family. My dad, Craig Stewart, made a video of our old family photos and gave it to the mine museum at the elementary school.
