All hat, no cattle. Said of someone who’s fronting as a big deal but can’t back it up. Think of someone who dresses like a rancher from Texas, but literally has no cattle. It’s not really about be a fake cowboy but about acting like a big shot when you’re not.

There are a couple of U.K. sayings that fit the same bill. One is “all fur coat and no knickers” the other is “all mouth and no trousers”. Both are a way of saying that you big yourself up but there is nothing to substantiate your claims.

What you will find is that there's no such thing as a British accent. In fact it's a Hollywood construct just like the generic American accents used in tv and movies. We have 40 plus different accents just in England.

Geordie is british slang BTW. Geordies are people from Newcastle. Hugh Grant is a Londoner. So really it should be Texan, Geordie and London slang. Rather moronic to refer to Hugh as British but not Charlie, just because London is the stereotype.

Fun video! Thank you! The weird thing about living in the UK is that as small as it is, we've got so many widely-different accents and dialects, people from one area of the country can be completely incomprehensible to people from another region. I've lived in the USA for the biggest chunk of my life, so my accent has sort of melted into a hybrid Trans-Atlantic that makes everyone think I'm Canadian. But if I revert to my native Devonian accent, Americans ask me why I'm doing a pirate impression (or a Hagrid impression, depending on their age).
