I went through several of these on my 79 Eldo back in the day. They didn't last very long before they failed. They were the hottest set up with a set of Vogue tires. We called them Chariot Wheels when they had the spinner on them.

I bought a set of "Bones"/Trus plus 4 new tires, in the mid 80's, for $900. I still have them and they are solid steel. No Aluminum. I drive a Mercedes now instead of a Chevy, so they sit in my basement wrapped up. Thoses were the days. 😎✌

Appreciate the feedback bro. I’m hell on searching a good set of cragar star wires for my 52 Chevy but after this vid I’ll just go with the swangas. I’m from Texas but the super poke while I don’t knock it , not my thing
@Sanctify534-nr6qo Жыл бұрын
Unless u have kept ur older swangz in the best shape possible over the years buying a new set is dumb cause they don’t weld em right anymore and have cheap machines do it rather than hand held welders u got to be cleaning and checking the spokes after each ride to keep swangz up to par nowadays

Yep. Keep in mind that there's a lawsuit of a federal level, by Cragar/Truespoke that had been put out....Cragar suspended it's making of the Starwire due to that. And they(Cragar/Truespoke) stated that no Patent has been bought from thing or anything like that

Is there an original lug nut that was used with these wheels? Thanks for the video!
@Kingofspokes2 жыл бұрын
They use the cragar mag lugs 3/4 long shank and the cragar washers either center home or offset depending on the bolt pattern u got I use custom hubcentric rings in the back to ease installation and improve the ride quality since these wheels are unilug and lug centric
@blackout2601123 жыл бұрын
Does the center cap sit inside the hub or just on top
@Kingofspokes3 жыл бұрын
It sits on top on the front There’s a cone shaped washer and a Phillips head screw that goes thru the back of the hub inside the hole and screws into the cap

Yes that’s the poke style In the 80’s 90’s thru today the Houston guys would ride fwd wheels with adapters on their rwd cars to achieve this poke style Texan wire wheels reproduces both the fwd and rwd wheels and the rwd Texan wire wheels are identical to the rwd cragar star wires

That's Cool the Star wires were the Shit but not standard the Set to have is 30 spoke 13X7 reversed !! Alot of people have rims like what you have but are asking an arm & a leg but they're not valuable . The 13 reversed are the valuable ones cause the are hard to find the Original Weld Star wires
@Kingofspokes Жыл бұрын
I think it depends where you’re at and what kind of car youre putting together. I agree the reverse offsets are the rarest (and coolest imo) and if I didn’t have rear skirts i woulda went with reverse. In the Midwest at least Chicago and surrounding areas the look is 15inch standard or reverse with 235 wide whites so out here a standard set of 15in starwires go for a lot the whole point of my video is to show u can buy these and get the same wheel and while they are still expensive you’re buying a brand new wheel and a stronger wheel Tww makes a 14x7 reverse wheel and a 15x7 reverse I’ve heard rumors of tww making 13x7 reverse special order but I haven’t seen any

Reverse are perfect for lowriders. Crosslace for the Europeans. Hot rods can run em... But that poke style is straight re-re.
@Sanctify534-nr6qo Жыл бұрын
Real men rode star wires on lowriders first before poking ever came about the first rims to poke weren’t spokes it was long lug nuts on mercurys that had the first pokers like a Mack trucks lug nuts then 60’s 70’s came around then u started to see spokes poke on caddy’s and cragar then u had the hood put their own twist on it

Lead sleds that rode solid rims were first to ever stick out by the redesign of where lugnuts were positioned
