I have greatly enjoyed your KZbin videos. You have asked in a few interviews about the lack of younger people getting interested in our wonderful hobby today. I think you are doing a great service to help solve the problem with your videos. Please keep up the good work. Certainly part of the problem with High-end Audio today is exposure. In many states a good Hi-fi show rarely if ever occurs. Dealers in the 80s would treat customers like family, now it's become cold and clinical at most of them. I think the primary reason though is the lack of real affordable excellence and creativity. Today, most affordable audio products are "also-ran" products. They all look pretty much the same, and offer pretty much the same mediocre performance. Just look for example at the plethora of bookshelf or small floor standing speakers. Why should I by one over the other? There are a few amazing exceptions, the Magnepan LRS, to name just one. Anybody still remember the Spica TC-50, the Adcom Gfa-555, the "Conrad Johnson PV-7 or Pv5, the early days of Vpi and Sota? There were so many, a good list would be long. These and many others caught my interest in my 20's because they were financially reachable and offered a real taste of the best at the time, albeit with some compromises. Paired properly, they just flat out played music beautifully. I'm so tired of reading about all the "also-ran" products in today's audio magazines. Manufacturers used to offer something extraordinary, special, and creative in their entry level products. In the late 80s Conrad Johnson had an add for their new entry-level preamp (with a good phono section included). The add said this and was TRUE: "Affordable Excellence" Try pricing their products today. What will bring in new and younger converts to "Highend Audio" today? Good music, good sound, exposure to it (together with some education on thoughtfull "system" matching), and reasonable prices (maybe like a good affordable tube preamp - Schiit, mated together with a good affordable solid state amp - Parasound, driving an exceptional pair of small floorstanders just like the Magnepan LRSs, fed from a Rega Planar 3, a modest Vpi, or a good affordable digital source) "affordable excellence." Btw, I own none of these. I love this hobby, and I love what you are doing. I subscribed :)

@David Huard Thank you so much! Those are all really good points. I had interviewed a gentleman awhile back, Santos with Troy Audio, and his idea was to have a board meeting among manufacturers regularly to discuss the topic and get on board with universal thoughts and ideas on how to draw in the younger crowd (kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3zchKWEbsaSoKs). I thought that was a really great idea, though I am not sure in reality that will happen. Though I did see this with Emotiva and Schiit in the gathering together of the Texas Audio Round Up. So, if this audio show has a regular cadence, that idea might come alive in a different form. My husband had a family member who had the Adcom GFA-555! I had never heard of Adcom before your comment and then his recollection of said Adcom amplifier from when he was a child. It looks like they are still around today (I wonder how their components stand to the test today?)- www.adcom.com. Exposure is definitely the key. You just named off a great system. I think a young person just getting into hi-fi might have to mix and match a couple of components in the list, depending on where they are at in their life. I was lucky and started off with a great job right out of school, and being single at the time left me with additional money to play with. But there are so many great and affordable products that the possibilities are there...they just need the exposure, and you are right on point there. Thank you for subscribing as well. :) ---Cynthia, The Audio Belle

Hey Cynthia great you are back! Any thoughts on the Schiit Tyr if it was at the show?

Hey! Schiit had two Tyrs set up. They definitely seemed powerful from what I could tell and I tried to choose some songs that would bring that out of them. The speakers in the setup weren’t super impressive to me though, so it was hard to get a good sample. I did do an interview with Jason from Schiit, and based on your comment I discussed the Tyr with him in the interview. Look for that in the next coming weeks! --Cynthia, The Audio Belle
