I'm convinced those towers in New York City were not taken down by terrorists. The towers plummeted straight down, collapsing from within. That should not have happened just because of a plane hitting the side. Those were controlled demolitions through bombs planted at strategic locations in the buildings.

Have a look at 10th century Muslim Empire of Fraxinet & Crete.

Fraxinet, even including the surrounding enclaves up to (what are now) the Swiss borders, could hardly be called an 'Empire' nor, in all honesty, could Muslim Crete have claimed any such grandeur.

I wouldn't say that nation building was impossible it was more due to sheer incompetence of US gov and illogical decsions such as disbanding the iraqi army and putting maliki in charge

Also domestic politics might've been more centrist , especially domestic extremist groups who are predominantly right wing/Conservative Intelligence agencies took all attention away from them and focused on muslims in the US

What you are describing is part of a more general problem of superpowers believing they must control everything in what they perceive to be their sphere of influence, often through proxy wars. Since 1945, if you add up the dead from all the direct and proxy wars that the US has been involved with (Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Central America, Iraq (twice), Afghanistan as well as several civil wars in Africa, the number of dead is probably well over 5 million, or somewhere between 500k and a million per decade, as a very rough order of magnitude. I do not think the US is particularly evil, the Chinese and Indians will probably kill as many people when they become superpowers, and the Soviets probably killed a few million also. It's a problem with superpowers. But then on the other hand, we haven't had a World War 3, largely because the superpowers' weapons of mass destruction are so powerful that an all-out global war would destroy us all.
