I have been in 5 tornadoes. One of them completely destroyed my home. I lost everything I had plus the tiny bits of stuff that was still there got looted and stolen by thieves. No one cared at all. No one helped me or gave me even one cent. I had insurance but even they didn’t pay me for 3 years and then they screwed me. It took me years to recover.

Wasn't there a tornado watch? Why are people out and about? When there is a tornado watch, I prepare and I am very close to my safe place. There are helmets in my basement. I do not get in my car and drive anywhere! Please pay attention! Watch your radar. Watch Ryan Hall Y'all on KZbin. Have a NOAA weather radio. Figure out now where your safe place is even if it is a neighbor's house or an official shelter. Don't wait until the last minute to take cover! Don't forget your pets! Be prepared and take severe weather seriously!

"There are helmets in my basement.". Very Good advice and it can be used ib "earthquakes landslide etc too. unfortunately there is NO basement in Texas and "Derecho" can be anywhere in an INSTANT.

It’s Texas….we are used to this kind of weather. Yesterday had a double tornado (F3) touch down 5 miles away from my home. I saw the sky becoming dark and a cumulonimbus building left work 20 minutes early…..10 minutes after I got home the storm hit. Softball size hail….then tornado warning my only concern is it was raining too hard to see the path. Luckily, the local news covered it and the tornadoes missed major population areas even with it pretty close by MAF. The ironic thing is it did hit the national weather service building lol.

@@wanjuchien4208the derecho in Houston you’re referring to was a tornado…..my cousin lives a mile away from where it hit. It took the sides of concrete buildings…..straight line winds don’t do that.

Everyone should have a radar app on their cellphone, learn how to read the radar products and understand how to use a map so they don't drive into nadoes.
