Texas Gals by The Plank Road Stringband, 1976.

Andy Williams & Brad Leftwich--fiddle; Al Tharp--banjo; Steve Gendron--guitar; Michael James Kott--cello. From Plank Road's first LP recorded at WLUR-FM studios by David Winston & Tom Tinsley in 1976. Remastered by Ray Alden and republished in 2008 for the Field Recorder's Collective. Plank Road was based in Lexington, Virginia in the mid-seventies.
Brad learned Texas Gals from Tommy Jarrell, one of the few tunes Tommy played in C. It's in "standard" fiddle tuning (GDAE) although Tommy considered this just another fiddle tuning, and not one which he used a lot.
