So true. About 12 years ago we rented a canal boat in France and traveled the canals for 2.5 weeks. Absolutely a dream vacation. Met other canal travelers from all over the world. One evening several days into our trip we were anchored in a small village and another boat pulled up beside us and asked if we were from Texas as they spotted our small Texas flag we were flying off the back of the boat. They were a couple from Dallas. They anchored and joined us for a number of bottles of French wine. We are still in touch with them today.

Actually I have had people who are not Texan, especially outside of the US, ask me where I'm from and when I answer Texas, they are always "I thought so. You're always smiling, talk to everyone, and very courteous."

Our taxi driver in London said the same. He said he loves Texans.

I was at the Neuschwanstein castle in Germany. Heard Texans speaking. Asked what part of Texas. When found they were from Laredo, I asked them to say hello to someone I knew there. They actually looked him up to say hello from a Texan in Germany! I know because I asked him about it when I got back to Texas. We are everywhere.

Ages ago I was on an out of country R&R in Australia from Vietnam with my Captain, 1STSGT, and PltSgt. We stopped in a pub for a few beers. There were guys shooting darts on one side, and ladies dancing on the other. Odd, I thought. We'd ordered a round of beers, and were brought room temperature beer in large glasses. I protested, and said we wanted cold beer. The bartender said "Oh, you want yank beer.". I stood up suddenly, and said "You call me a yankee again, and I'll take the top of your head off! I'm from Texas boy, and you'd best remember that!". He smiled, and said "My apologies for the offense, sir. We have a cold case of Lone Star, and I'll bring it to you gentlemen straight away!" Shucks, how could I argue with that? Besides myself, my Captain was from Texas, as were we all. By the evening, we'd pronounced our Ausie bartender an honorary Texan. He was a "good bloke", and we gave him a Texas flag , which he promptly tacked up behind his bar. Now that's how you win friends and influence people! And I'm sure that he was pleased to be an honorary Texan. Oh, and we all went off with some very grateful "Shielas" when the pub closed. 😁 Texans always win in any situation. 😉

Great story and especially after being accused of being a yankee. Lol.
@anangryrangerАй бұрын
@@ruthhatfield8869 yes sir, calling a diehard Texan a yankee could have serious consequences. That bartender had only used their common term for cold American beer used in their country. I quickly realized he meant no offense. Though I am still an angry Ranger, I'm quick to admit to anyone my mistakes. That bartender was a good guy, and was so funny, he had us nearly on the floor laughing.

I'm in Fort Worth. A few weeks ago I was in London, and trudging back to the tube after visiting the Tower. A pair of ladies I've never seen before walk up to me and ask me directions - clearly American. I give them directions and ask - where are you from? Fort Worth. There's really something to this...

I moved from Houston to Montana a couple years ago and have had 3 Texan coworkers. One of whom became a great friend. Turns out we grew up about 5 miles away from each other and almost met several times in TX. He worked a couple blocks from my college, he lived right behind one of my work offices, I almost moved into an apartment he had just moved out of, he likely checked my id at a bar he worked at by my parents house, but we never met until we worked together in Montana. On of the cashiers at my local grocery store asked what part of Houston I’m from because of my Astros ball cap. Turns out she lived not to far from me either.

I literally LOVE your channel. I've lived Texas my entire life. Over 60 years. I've traveled quite a bit and met many people from many places. Driving Uber, I've had a ton of conversations with people from around the country and the world. One thing I always admitted to is that I'm a Texan first and an American second. Like it or not.

Even when you're in TX working in your regular day to day job you can immediately tell who isn't from 'round here. I used to work in the hospital taking insurance info in the ER and I knew RIGHT AWAY which people where from California, they are just next level rude.

I was in Australia a couple weeks ago on business. Met a fellow Texan in a lil out of the way, non-touristy spot early in the week, and then end of the week, we were on same plane back to the States, different connection flights. And by the way, when asked if "Are you from the States?" the proper reply is always "No, I'm from THE STATE."

As a born-and-raised Texan, I love seeing how people who move to our state react to these types of things after living here! I can’t tell you how many “adopted Texans” say, “I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could!”
@cecelively5515Ай бұрын
Native Texan here, my hubs and I had to move to NY… we got back as fast as we could ( miserable experience). People in Texas are indeed friendlier. I remember when I went to the grocery store and in the checkout line and I would try to strike up a conversation with people in line and they would look at me like I had a third eye and was diseased. People in Texas are so much kinder, I hope that doesn’t change with the influx of others moving from out of state to Texas.

You're as Texan as William Barret Travis, Davey Crockett, and Jim Bowie. Texas is a state of mind, and you got that state of mind. Slap a bumper sticker on your truck that says "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could." Fly the Lone Star in front of your house. If you happen to be in a foreign country like California on March 2, buy some folks a round of beer in honor of our Independence Day.

I've had a few not as great experiences with servers. Nothing really bad, but some that just weren't that great, friendly, or attentive, like a good wait staff person should be. But the good ones outweigh the bad ones for me.

I'm a bred and born Texan, but I've spent quite a bit of time in northern California in the past 4 years. I don't remember ever having bad service at a store or restaurant, but I have noticed that, on the whole, people in San Francisco just aren't as friendly and helpful as they are in the smaller towns. But I think that's mostly true in any large city. In fact, my son and I stopped to help push a stalled car out of a busy road, and he told his father in law about. My son's FIL said, "What, are we in Texas now?"
