I don’t think you need therapy. Therapy is telling someone about your experience and how it made you feel. You’ve done that. You don’t have the night sweats now because your conscious mind has finally accepted the message your unconscious mind was trying to convey. I say that because you’re no longer having the physical responses from your fight or flight (survival instinct). The three parts of your brain have reconciled and you are no longer on alert that they might be coming for again. (I’m not a doctor, I’m just familiar with similar experiences).

It’s funny. The reason you don’t wear your beaver skin hat in summer is the heat. You will boil your brain, figuratively, - get headache and maybe pass out. But go ahead. Let me get my camera phone out first though.

Well Oli you've gone and done it!! Almost. Sort of. When I was a kid (7 decades back) the rodeo had Greased Pigs. Kids in one corner and pigs layered in lard in the other. Wranglers for both in between. When the gun went off the kids chased the pigs trying to grab one and drag it across the line. Or into a box. Or into a barrel. 40 to 50 pound larded up pigs (weight, not cost) versus 50 pound kids (cost plus a lot and not that heavy) is a site to behold! And that's where the tradition started I guess. Oh, the mutton busters aren't strapped on. They grab a couple handfuls of raw wool, wrap their little legs as best they can and hold on.

No I would say, “Have fun with the Waco heat in a hot hat. We will catch you when you pass out from the heat.” Then “Oh, are you 🥵 ? You poor thing.” Then “Yes the straw hat IS a lot cooler. Gee, I wonder why nobody ever thought of that? 😂”. From a Texan who has lived in Waco during the summer.
@miafrench716913 сағат бұрын
Born a Texan. Never heard a cowboy get pissed over someone wearing a hat in the summer. Straw or not. In summer we do wear a lot of ball caps tho, cause you dont mind sweatin in them.

Think I unconsciously observed that! Husband & I come from different backgrounds, but both from generations of native Texans, and settled here after trying disparate locations as medical workers. Texans are triggered all the time, but there is a culture of keep your mouth shut or “under your hat.” Never speak on others opinions or actions, politics, religion, money, personal business, or anything “impolite.” But they & we grumble to our selves & anyone close to us. And probably comment on KZbin.😉

Texas has there own power grind cause it goes back to them being independent when the joined the union and keeping that independent in a lot of way after. It’s why the Texas flag is what it is also and why it’s called the lone star state.

We don't like people throwing trash on the ground, (Don't Mess With Texas) we don't like rude, dangerous drivers, (Drive Friendly The Texas Way) and we don't like thoughtless people (Do Unto Others, As You Would Have Others Do Unto You.) Although you can wear a felt hat in the summer, it's more widely practiced to use straw. However, sports caps are also used for hot seasons covered with a winter cap over it when it's cold. The cowboy style had offers a great deal of protection from the sun, but isn't very practical in the wind. The US Calvary produced a cowboy styled hat, with chin strap, to make them stay on better and to lay on the wearer's back instead of setting it down or holding it.
