I followed Daniel's Blog right up to the point he changed over to Texas Monthly. Man O man, a couple of the things I miss about Texas is outstanding barbecue and Texas Country Reporter. At least I can get a bit of a fix here.

If any of you noticed none of the BBQ in this story had any sauce on it. That's because Texas BBQ the sauce is always on the side. Thay won't you to taste the meat. I LOVE TEXAS

Shep's BBQ in Palestine Texas it's what we fall back on over and over. Bruce Barrett work there when he was a young adult and ended up buying the place from the owner. He is still the owner and his motto is nobody leaves here hungry! I've been going in there since my dad would take me as a little boy and I'm 64 now. If you ever get a chance and are near Palestine Texas give it a try. You will not be disappointed, and either Bruce or his son who will be running the line, both of them great people.

Hey Bob and Kelli, have you all ever been to Spring Creek bbq in Burleson? We had a warehouse near there and before we sold it when I came to town I ate there at least once a day. Sometimes twice a day. Meat was done perfect and portions were great. I miss coming there and have thought about flying in just to eat there and bring some back home….yes, that good!

If any of your viewers are ever in Richmond VA they have to go to Buzz and Ned's Barbecue on the Boulevard! They even beat out Bobby Flay in a BBQ cookoff. He sells Tee shirts that say Flay Slayer. :)

I'm sorry I know I'm going to ruffle some feathers. I went down to Lockhart from East Texas with high hopes from all the hype on TV. I was truly disappointed. I know barbecue is a regional thing as far as the way it's prepared, but I just felt like it wasn't seasoned well if at all. And the sausages they make down there don't have any seasoning or flavor to me, again that is just my opinion. And I don't care for the big chunks of meat on butcher paper, my piece of brisket was so hot and greasy I couldn't even pull it apart to eat it I was burning my fingers. I just had a bad experience all the way around. I spent the day there anyway and tried three different places that I'd seen on TV and at the end of the day I wish I just stayed home.

Dude you're from Ohio , don't consider yourself a true Texan , cause we don't eat English pea salad with bbq or mac and cheese in the chili , tater salad and coleslaw is where it's at !
