Good Will stuffed animals, dolls & cars, along with clothes for each of us. Thats how we grew up. Not embarrassed but loved. Thats what mom could afford & we did not do without. My prom dress was $1.50 from a church thrift shop. I looked as pretty as anyone there, just out dated by 8-10 yrs. I was happy, my boyfriend & patents thought i looked beautiful & i did not care what anyone else thought or said. I looked like "me", a little old fashion & had the time of my life in my favorite style & color. I bought all my girls all their play clothes, many coats & even some of their Church dresses. I made their school clothes as they had to wear uniforms. They were happy also & pretty well adjusted even though they did not have to have so much from Gd Will. We were able to help with some things for our neices & nephews to have new things. GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO US, I CERTAINLY CAN NOT COMPLAIN. SO GLAD MY CHILDREN GREW UP BEFORE NOW. NOW i have to worry about gt grandchildren-this world has changed so much in past 50 years. I am 78 & husband is 80, so you know what i'm talking about. I had that give & take with my in laws & made the girls do the same. We have a diff day than the exact holiday with our family. I told the girls i wanted them for a WHOLE DAY not just a couple hours. I expected them to have the ACTUAL DAY for their family. And how they did with their in laws was up to them. I had very few holidays with my daughters. Sometimes i would feel sorry for myself, then i would think its your fault, they would b here for a hr or 2 if you wanted them. BUT the big thing i remembered how exhausted my children would be Christmas eve as we spent that with my in laws. But instead of going to one house we ended up going to mom n law, sisters n law, & for a coupke years brothers n law. Dragging home 4 little girls @ mn was just to much. We let them sleep in Christmas day bc they were exhausted & grumpy-just plain miserable. My Mom would have hers the wk end before or after. By that time they had played with everything & excited for another round. This worked best for our family. AND each family should adapt their own holiday routine for their children's sake--they have 2 sets of grandparents? Enjoyed your Brittle receipts, the comaradary & your rich happy laughs. I do wish you would list the ingredients @ the beginning. Because as u talj i get confused about thr receipt & the story . Blessings on your ministry.❤

Hello ladies, I recently came across this video even though I've been following you for a while now. I live in Wisconsin and go to Lake geneva all the time. Im about 30 min or so from it. I was so surprised to hear you say you stayed or worked in Lake Geneva. I'm in Janesville, not to far. But now I'm trying to figure out what goodwill you went to. Mary and Linda I just found your channel today and I have binge watched your videos all day. They have brought me so much joy. I have a sister that is 18 months older than me and she never married and never had any children. She always kept my children from the time they were old enough for me to go back to work. I am a Nurse and I would work long hours and double shifts and my children felt at home with her. I truly don't know what I would have done without her. When my youngest was little she would cry to go home when she was home with me. I tried to explain but it's hard to explain to a 2 year old. My children are 32,22 and 18 now and they love my sister like a mother and I always told her when they were little that if something ever happened to me and their daddy that I wanted her to take in my children and she always assured me she would. I have never heard of a Texas Peanut Pattie but those looked so good. Is that something that is usually made around Christmas? I am about to watch the cinnamon roll video and I want to watch the divinity video. I have made both of those but mine don't always turn out good, so I will watch your videos to see if I can improve what I am doing. I have a love for Texas even though I am a Georgia girl. I have family in Texas and my grandmother lived in Texas the last 10 years of her life to be with her only daughter in Baytown Texas. God Bless Texas and God bless you 2 ladies!

This Christmas I found a hand carved cross for my white elephant gift. The last person who ended up with the cross I told them to look under the cardboard in the bag. Was hidden $40.00 everyone was screaming I should've kept the cross.

My only children, gifts from God, turned 55 last Dec but in Nov the younger one passed in her sleep of heart ❤ disease. The chance of me or their dad of going 1st was most likely. God was in charge. Reminded me as you were talking of that. Her surviving sister is living with me now as I will turn 77 at end of March. God has given us comfort and strength thru this loss and stays ever so close 🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss God bless you. It I'm 76 going on 77. I had three children. But in 1984 my 13 year old daughter died suddenly. It wasn't from disease it was from Reyes Syndrome Better to look it up if you want instead of me explaining.. I can understand your pain and the devastation that occurred in your life because of this. I had tears for you when I read this. Yes when death is not in the order it should be we question a lot of things. As long as I get to see her when I pass 💔💖

I was raised at Binger, Oklahoma. We raised peanuts. we raised Spanish peanuts which is the kind not the way they are prepared. This is the type of peanut that are mostly planted. Some do plant a jumbo peanut or one that have 3 peanut cells. I have since forgotten the names. You need to call Gunter's Peanut Barn in Binger to see if you can order your raw peanuts cheaper. Also want to say that I was always taught not to make candy on wet rainy, snowy, humid days and never double the batch.

When making peanut brittle, put your peanuts on a cookie sheet snd put in oven to get them heated so when you put them in your hot syrup mixture so it wont take so long to bring back up to temp.
