Was state of the art in 1942. Still flying today and reliable in the hands of those who know. Sad when unforeseen accidents happen. But I suppose the lesson here is an example of what those airmen went through during WWII. It was sad then when a crew was lost, and just as sad today. Some knew then, and now we certainly know it wasn't as glamorous as portrayed in all those WWII movies we watch. We are grateful for those heroes who climbed into those machines knowing the risks they were taking every time they flew into the unknown.

I actually got to see this plane years back while out in the field, I heard this unique-sounding plane, and when I looked up, I immediately knew what it was. It was approx at around 3000 ft high and traveled in the direction of San Antonio. It was a treat watching it.
