Yeah, doubtful it was named after any particular style of raiding. If so, Comanche would have been the best as there were none better at raiding. Almost any raiding party would have sufficed. Tomahawk cruise missiles for example are not inspired by that specific weapon. I worked on many Tomahawk’s btw

As an professional rider and coachman too I'm not familar with mules. But in the early 90 I was a member of an Four- in-hand horse team at the EQUITANA World horse show in Essen/Germany. I made friendship to an Swiss Army officer and his Six-mule-team. I learn a lot about, since when I own I very high opinion about mules. He told me:" If you want to deal with mules, forget all your experience about horses !" As next: "Every work what a horse is able to do, works a mule much more better!"

I always have my maps open while listening. My Grandfather and Great Grandfather lived in Mercury, Texas and I grew up hunting & fishing in the central Texas area. I’m familiar with most of the places mentioned & your stories bring pictures of my youth to mind. My Great Great Grandfather and his son were both Texas Rangers. There was a Brady, Texas newspaper article that described his days chasing Indians. Strangly, my mothers side of the family are related to Cynthia Ann Parker, the mother of Quanah Parker. So my ancestors were both Indian & Indian fighters.

@@craig5477 My 2nd Great Grandfather was a Ranger, as well... Obediah R. Hocker. His father, Henry Coleman Hocker, was a justice of the peace.. first they lived in Red River county, and then they moved to southwest of San Antonio, and then on to Driftwood, Texas. Originally from Kentucky. I'd love to find more info on them, as it's been real hard to find the history. I do have all his war info from his Texas Cavalry days, but finding Ranger info has been tough so far, other than a census listing. My great grandmother was an Austin, and I traced us back to my great grandfather being one of Moses Austin's brothers. I often wonder how many Texans don't even know any of their history, and it could really be pretty neat to know. We had no idea he was a Ranger for example. Always neat to read on other Ranger families.. take care!!

Our farm borders an Indian reservation in Wisconsin. My dad told me a funny story about mules after WW2. Army surplus mules were given to the native farmers to use as draft animals. These mules could not bray as their vocal cords had been cut. This was done so as not to betray themselves and their soldier handlers to the enemy. They were also trained to lie down when they heard an air raid siren. They however could not distinguish air raid sirens from fire trucks. And as the farmers plowed their fields if a fire truck wailed by the mules would lay down on the job!

You have the story right, but have switched the characters around. Adolf Korn was abducted by the Comanche tribe and spent his entire captivity with the Comanches. The young white warrior in this story was Herman Lehman who was abducted by the the Apache and spent about 7 years with them before being forced to leave the tribe. Herman Lehman ended up with the Comanche Tribe after he left the Apaches.
