I am at a shelter in Galveston. In Houston, the shelters are providing cots and food . Here in Galveston, we are forgotten. Only tourist matter . This city is so corrupt. Elderly disabled sleeping on the floor . Using plastic as covers It is so horrible to see. They denied a blind man with 1 leg entrance bc he is in diapers. He had a caregiver ! I want to email the ADA . Discrimination of a disabled person is against the law!! I emailed the mayor Who knows if he'll get it

Given that we’re warned of hurricanes coming a week or more in advance, this is how Houstonians live through hurricane season: 1. Book a hotel out of town well beforehand 2. Keep a full tank of gas well beforehand 3. Always keep cases of water 4. Always have non perishable food 5. Request up to $500 from your insurance provider to replace spoiled fridge/freezer items 6. Don’t drive through flooded roads 7. If you’re still not satisfied, you’re free to move. ❤HTX
@annesand7157
@annesand7157 Ай бұрын
I was there visiting. There was a lot of warning in advance. People were out doing their nails. The people I was with bought a freezer full of meats the day before the Hurricane, with foodstamps. Why?! Because when all that spoils, they cry to the government who gives them more foodstamps. These people live in a camper in Conroe. They don’t have any generator or battery back up, no coolers, didn’t buy water. Toilet stop working. What water I bought to flush the toilet, the wife used to wash her hair. They’re not prepared at all. Now I am getting nasty text messages from them demanding I send $500 to their cash app. People choose to live like that, then they want everyone else to pay their way. The day before the hurricane hit, the wife is at the nail salon. I drove out of Conroe on Thursday. Just one hour away, nothing was wrong. I stood in Amarillo one night, no problems. If you live in an area that is prone to natural disasters, you move. I live in Colorado. I would never live in the Houston area. Texas people are nice, but Texas has some ignorant transplants. These folks moved from Wellston Oklahoma.

It takes time especially when power lines are down due to vegetation such as huge trees. Not only that, crews that come from other states have to be trained on the infrastructure. People harassing linemen makes no sense. They are just trying to do their jobs, which isn’t easy. The way these tress were uprooted and tangled in power lines is horrible. You have to see it to believe the mess.
