Great video guys. I have been an Orthotic Technician for 20 years now and this is the first time I have seen how someone else or another company manufacturers the stuff I make. Makes me feel part of a bigger group rather than just the small company I work for.

This might be a dumb question, but why did you choose to put the pads in the malleoli pads at the end and not before the draping when you could have skived and put the pads underneath the nylon stockinette (baby powder could then be used as a separator during the vacuuming)?
@AdvancedOrthopedic11 жыл бұрын
It's zonolite, aka vermiculite. It makes the models easier to rectify, plaster build-ups stick better. It helps and it's cheap.

Can you do a video of making a hinged afo
@AdvancedOrthopedic11 жыл бұрын
We modify enough room into the model to accommodate adding pads near the end of the process. The pads that we use are very soft and low durometer, the hot plastic under vacuum would permanently compress this type of padding too much to still be effective.

at 7:38 I am looking at some sweet buffing machines. Do you think I can use a 1/2 hp motor to serve my needs?

My router is 1/2 hp and works well.

Why did you choose to use a shorter footplate, rather than a full foot that other ground reaction designs use?
@AdvancedOrthopedic9 жыл бұрын
Erin Tatum A full footplate adds no benefit, it just makes the shoe tighter. There is no added rigidity with a polypro footplate that is flat. Short answer, easier to fit in the shoe.

can u plz explain the trimline being made
@AdvancedOrthopedic7 жыл бұрын
Proximally the trimline extends to the tibial tubercle. Medially and laterally they extend beyond the apices of the maleoli.

A full footplate will keep the orthosis from cutting into the sulcus of the foot and aid in toe pick up.
@AdvancedOrthopedic9 жыл бұрын
Dean Hansen Perhaps in some designs, but it hasn't been an issue. We use full length padded footplates, something no one else that I know of does. It works very well for us.

What is the vermiculite for?
@bagonth7 жыл бұрын
It makes the plaster less dense so it's lighter to work with.

@AdvancedOrthopedic9 жыл бұрын
