A tamale wit a substantial amout of filling. Yum. My grwat Aunt Pearl was married to a mexican man. He always had me tamales waiting when we went to visit. That was in the 50's.

Years ago, after helping my aunt fix hot tamales, my wife and I fixed a batch. On my first one she said, "That's too much masa". I reduced it some and she said it was still too much masa. I explained as nice as I could that I watched my mother make tamales before she was born. She didn't say any thing and I fixed about a dozed. When I ate the first one, I told her that's too much masa. She replied, "I know and you have about a dozen just like it to eat". I guess I never really learned when to keep my mouth shut.

The sons are doing a great job maintaining the longevity, but I bet Martha is the real reason the business is still in the market.

I live in the small town I grew up in having travelled coast to coast and spent time in 3 countries and I came back thankful for home. My dad equates it to a dog or pigeon and magnetism drawing you back to center, I say it's the Redwoods and the Ocean cliffs of Mendocino County and the 4th of July Frontier Days Rodeo the oldest continuest in California only 98 years young.

My cousin married a Mexican girl who’s maiden name was Gallegos but I doubt she’s related to these people. There are a lot of different Gallegos families in the United States and New Mexico. They may all be related, but we don’t know. my cousin’s wife had seven sisters and one brother. The sisters, the mother, the aunts and the grandmothers and some of the daughters that were old enough would all get together. They would be like 15 to 17 women that would get together every summer and they would make 3500 tamales and then divide them between the families. My cousin and his wife would get, 500 tamales and we would eat tamales for a week every day they were delicious. They were some of the best tamales I’ve ever had. It was passed down by one of their great great grandmothers

Born and raised in Ft Stockton I went there for tamales. In high school me and some buddies loaded up in my car at lunch time and went there for tamales, I got mine first and went back to the car and started eating mine. Something caught my attention and I looked and there was a huge flying ant embedded in the masa. I rolled it back up and offered it to one of my low IQ friends when he got in the car. As soon as he swallowed it I busted out laughing and told him, but he didn’t care he got a free tamale....🤣🤣🤣. Good Times! It didn’t stop me from going there those tamales were too good. I also remember buying tamales people would sell off there tailgates rolling through the poor neighborhoods for $2/dz and they were hog head tamales, the best ever.....

growing up we did this every time we butchard a pig, using only the hog (well cleaned)for meat, and rather than water in the masa, my grandmother used the cooking liquid from the head, killr eat'n with a little salt, or with eggs, salsa and hashbrowns!

I’m Texan from many generations and the Texas tamales are similar or identical to the ones made in northern and central Mexico because tamales originated in central Mexico and many Mexicans families from those regions settled here in Texas during the colonial times.. every Tejano is aware of this so you go ahead end suck it up 😂
