2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium 2.3L High-Performance

This week I drove the 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost. This is the first time in a long time that I've driven a non-GT Mustang and I was pretty excited about it. I actually really enjoyed the sporty car but did have a few gripes of a sort to throw Ford's way. Check out the video and see my thoughts on this EcoBoost Premium 2.3L High-Performance Mustang.

The ecoboost Mustang is made for people that just go to work but want a sports car, not a muscle car. Good gas mileage and decent power without fear of driving off the road. There's no other vehicle with this power and looks in this price range. All the Euro and Japanese cars are much more expensive. Even the Kia Stinger 2.5L is more expensive, I know because I own one. $42k at the dealer new with a bunch of annoying 'safety' features that make it not very sports car like.

I have driven the 760 hp Shelby 500s many times years ago. I've finally decided to buy a mustang after all these years. After just a few hours trying to decide to get the GT or the ecoboost high performance, I found I would be more satisfied with the ecoboost manual for many reasons. The internet will give you a whole lot of hate for the 4 cylinder, but, that was the same hate from decades ago with the 2.3. It's totally a different point in time and the performance of the 2.3 is absolutely amazing. I really would think I would be disappointed that the GT wasn't doing what the GT500 Shelby would do. At the end of the day, you are the one that has the car and the driving experience and it's your money to decide.

I agree with the idea of having a separate model to put this turbo ecoboost in like the old Maverick. I just bought a Graber Green 2020 ecoboost. Growing up we used to have a 71' grabber green Maverick and I've been calling my mustang M2 or mustang maverick. =)

The Magnetic Metallic is the color I ordered and received is amazing, a GT350R driver stopped me at a light to tell me how nice my car is, I said "MY CAR??? Yours is amazing!!!" We gave a thumbs up and went one our way, but my HPP is a bit different though GT350R brakes, axles & rims...with lowering springs...it looks VERY aggressive, bottom line, you can add a tune and some bolt-ons and get GT killing performance easily.

I just custom ordered my Echoboost mustang about a month ago. Super excited about it. I know it doesn’t sound like the V8, and I’m ok with that. I am planning on ordering the Ford Performance pack which jumps the non hpp engine to 345 hp and 426 ft/lbs of torque. I will have Ford install it to maintain my warranty. The performance pack is not available on the hpp echoboost mustang.

The best Mustang of all time is the 2015 Premium Performance Package Convertible Mustang with the Hot and Cold seats and 19" RIMS.

In my opinion this car has no reason to exist in anything but a stick. With the stick it is an unparalleled fun ride that doesn't look like a teenagers dream. In automatic, there are better choices for the same money.
