I just found some of these in my fireplace. They were babies, about a week old. Their nest got blown down the chimney by a storm. I looked for someone who could rehab them for 2 days and found someone who is somewhat of an expert. I was directed to put them back inside the chimney with a broom stick and sure enough, they stuck to the walls. There are adult birds in there and the babies are still alive so I hope they’re being taken care of. The expert said they had almost a 100% chance of dying in juman care but way better chances in the chimney. I’m hoping they pull through.

Thinking the bird we rescued is a chimney Swift. We’re in southern CA. Found one who flew into a window and was able to help him and re-release him.

I don't know if they're still there but when were kids in Ethiopia we used to call them "Lekakito". They appeared in the winter months.

Is there a organization who will build a chimney swift tower for individuals who are interested in helping these species to survive?

I have five naked, eyes closed baby chimney swifts. What do I feed them? I gave them sugar water and dog food rolled into little balls. They are alive this morning, just got them yesterday. Help!!! I'm in central GA. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This may be too late to help, but you're not supposed to feed them. The best thing is to put them back in the chimney so the parents can feed them. There are different ways to do this. You can find information online.

But more comprehensive schematics and instructions can be found in the book Chimney Swift Towers: New Habitat for America’s Mysterious Birds, specifically the kiosk-style tower.

Are this kind of swift its nest eatable.??
@texasparksandwildlife
@texasparksandwildlife Жыл бұрын
Their saliva is technically edible, but their nests are still full of sticks and other debris. So you don't want to eat a Chimney Swift nest. There are some recipes for making soup with nests like these, but they have to be separated from their inedible parts.
