Hard to understand why a national bird was allowed to reach such critically low levels ( 200 ) before action was taken. That is one incident away from extinction .
@DarkGhostHacker7 жыл бұрын
because most humans dont care. THe exact same reason why other species are extinct and many more are endangered and will eventually become extinct. For the exact same reason we have pollution, global warming, capitalism, ocean acidification, corrupt politicians making the laws, corporations dictating and controlling everything etc.....Because of what humans do to them and the complete apathy we have for every fucking thing. What a lovely species humans are.

Google User whats wrong with capitalism?
@StoicVeR7 жыл бұрын
bop bop - Nothing wrong with the concept of capitalism, however, the proposed ideal of it does not mesh with the reality that large corporations boaster for. For instance, in the industry of work and competition for job roles it places stress into the workers - "We want the absolute best and we expect such from our employees." What this is and what many corporations splurge for, is neglecting the very real needs of the employees trained to work in the corporation - you can be fired for being human, for having very human needs. Still, there are organizations that strive to aid and supply to their employees and shift the methods or traditions of work, thus the employee is valid and maintains their place in the organization - HR and HR aid with this, of working to nullify the neglect of the employee; however, the environment is very competitive and continues to disregard the needs of the employee who may work diligently, but due to crisis or what have you, are still under threat of being replaced by the newest model. Capitalism as well, in large, make the rules and standards of the industry. Very easily monopolies can form, which snuff out competing businesses that may be on the beginning side of things. Capitalism claims that 'competition leads to innovation and creation of the new and better', but in factuality it does not. That was the core proclamation of the 'American dream' in the ye old days, but in truth it stifles creativity - when big businesses make the rules, which in turn smite the small businesses which would encourage competition, it decimates the possibility of competition. Our medical industry especially suffers, in part from the higher education department that does not receive the influx of fresh students that would be capable of study and learning to become the next innovators of medicine, and in part due to the lack of innovation. Doctors become complacent with the old medical treatments, and many in America do no pursue the study and advancements of medicine; we can blame this on the Nation being one that is sue happy, and attempting new procedures with the potential to fail would be seen as malpractice or something. But the main factor is that corporations DON'T LIKE COMPETITION, which is kind of what capitalism is supposed to be. Strict regulations protect the people from erroneous ways of the largest corporations, but they rig it to remove the potential growth of those small businesses. This is all just a small sample of why capitalism has failed the people. In ideal, it has promise, but the way the government and the massive corporations corrupt the image of it; it's a damn shame. We have such potential, yet we squander it on profits and grab and run. It's pretty tacky.

To be honest, I'm doing some research on my own on parenthal care, and if we consider the vertebrades, so: fish->amphibians->reptiles->birds evolutionary tree. They all have increasingly more parenthal care (which makes sense since in each step it is harder to make offspring, full water, semi-water, hard shell, warm blood). Knowing that kiwis are relatives from the ostriches branch (which was one of the first divergences from flying birds). Maybe this helps understans a little bit more the low level of parental care. But maybe I'm wrong, you would need to look at other parents and such. Also, Pandas are mammals and don't have so much parenthal care as you are saying. But I guess it is because they are so chill from so many bambus (really hard to digest, making his metabolysm pay for it).

This kinda reminds of when I played Spore for the first time. I tried my hardest to never make any creature go extinct, even the hostile ones. Sometimes I had no choice, and knowing that I had ended a species of animals for my own benefit, even the benefit or survival, was honestly one of the most horrible feelings I've ever had in a video game. I think that every kind of animal in the world has a place in it, one that can't be replaced. My heart goes out to the work that these people are doing to save extinct species.
@WR3ND7 жыл бұрын

its because they never evolved to defend them, as in New Zealand there are naturally no egg-preying animals. thats why Kiwis were able to keep the eggs on the ground instead of in tree nests, and get them to be so big. in rest of the world, an egg like that would be quickly found and eaten by rodents or a snake

Dodos are typically kind of birds that are native to Mauritius island. The amazing fact is that the dodo bird is closed to their cousins, *pigeons and doves* . They become extinct when Spanish Voyagers and conquerers came this island around the 15th century and the last dodo bird died of nearly the 1600s. If anyone ever wonders why kiwis are going extinct let's all just reflect on that one time a huge guy got into a den and took it's egg without a fight...

@@jeremiah3355 my point was(can't believe I actually have to explain this): look how fucking easy it is for a predator to just break in and steal the eggs. If a human got in without a fight imagine a predator.

Interesting Fact: A birds beak length is normally measured from the tip of the beak to its nostrils. A kiwi’s nostril is down near the tip of its beak, so despite possessing a long beak, as far as zoological science is concerned, it has one of the shortest beaks in the avian kingdom.

So sad how there used to be 12 million kiwi birds! But now remaining today there is only 60,000 it’s sad to see another remarkable creature go extinct I hope they can level up the numbers again because kiwis are just a beautiful animal that deserves to live
