As a severe opiate addict, these videos break me when the parents blame themselves. My mom died when I was a 2, my sisters were 3 weeks old, and 7 years old. In spite of that I had a great dad a step mom who did her best and a good childhood. My dad was exactly like this dad. He believed the lies and deception I fed him. Who wants to believe their child they’ve nurtured, loved, and cared for, for 20 years would sink into the pit of addiction? We have the inclination to believe the people we love, even if the evidence says otherwise. That was my dad. He was the last one besides myself(addicts themselves are always the last to realize they’re an addict) that his son was a drug addict. They did nothing wrong, I changed, I made the decisions I made and it wasn’t because of them it was because of me. I had to walk that path and making me bring my car keys to them at night or setting a curfew was not going to change that. They say 2 out of 3 addicts have some type of trauma in childhood that can help cause substance use disorder later in life. That means 33.3% don’t have trauma from childhood and had a good upbringing and still turned out to be an addict. No singular decision you as parents made caused this. I was 30 when their son died. The only reason Blake is gone and I’m still here is because I’m 10 years older. I got sober right about the time fentanyl popped off. I got sober in 2014 then again after a 9 month relapse in 2019. He was poisoned, had I been born 10 years later I’m confident I wouldn’t have lived to see 30. I hate fentanyl. Rip Blake🖤

Parents aren't handed a "how to" manual when we bring our babies home from the hospital. I really could've used one while my daughter was in active drug addiction because navigating the overwhelming situations presented by drug use is a complete 180 of our normal instincts. I'm blessed, my daughter has 5 years clean However, every day I know it could change in a moment and back in the abyss we all go. These Parents are so honest and their enduring the torture of a child suffering from addiction is so apparent, I pray they do realize it had nothing to do with anything they did or didn't do. They loved and nurtured their son to the absolute best they could and now without having any responsibility in his death are suffering so tremendously. The brothers life has been forever altered as well. Many prayers for all of you and thank you for sharing your experience and loss in hopes of helping others. 🙏 ❤😢

@@adammiller9179 your right. I should’ve clarified that. I’m not talking about two friends sharing pills. Am infact pleasantly surprised that there was an ACTUAL ARREST in this case, all the others that I’ve watched, NADA, ZILCH, ZERO arrests. Is that what you want them to do? Continuously ignore these parents pleas for something to be done until they can arrest say, 100 people at once? Would that be a good enough quota for you? As in, if they can’t find multiple people at once, then let the OBVIOUS SUSPECT in this case go? _Just totally dumb way of thinking. First at all my deepest condolences to Blake's family. What I would like to say is that as per my opinion a lot of these teenagers and young adults who lost their lives in this way from the description of their parents they suffered from psychological problems such as depression, anxiety... So if parents see any signs of psychological disorders in their teens they should ask for help from a doctor, otherwise the kids go to drugs as a kind of 'self medication'. Rip Blake

I also know that when we pass, we are merely separated.. only for a while. It’s as though your family is walking along a path, and your son ran ahead, and is waiting for you to catch up. He’s around you. ( My son also felt “way better” when he used marijuana.) I traveled some of your journey, with different friends, drug experimentation, rehab, and the like. I even had my son arrested and forced into counseling and rehab through a county law. I get it. Hugs to you. (You did pay attention dad. It’s not your fault. I watch these videos and my heart breaks for the parents and family and the brother. I was good kid that experimented and once OD'd but somehow made it. I think the pain I would have caused my family. When I got married and finally had children I quit everything and haven't had a drink or anything in over 33 years. I have 2 grown children that think I'm the most straight laced parent as they never saw me used profanity or drink. But peer pressure is tremendous and I spent countless hours with my children and am fortunate they turned out great. Prayers to this family.

Every week I try to watch a couple of these horrific stories. I agree with one dad that said, "why isn't there commercials and public service announcements? Why was his son's death the first time he heard about it." This is out of control and this is NOT about drugs, it's about poison.

The big problem is that nobody thinks addiction will happen to them , especially when you are young & thinking that you are invincible. 💔😞

Hmmm A Very Sad Issue To Hear, This Boy Was Going Out With Someone And After The Break Up, He Just Couldn't Move On... And That Is What Had Him Killed. These People Are Not Junkies, They Are People Just Caught Up In The Wildest Of Situations And Unfortunately Don't Get Enough Strength To Carry On. Blake's Parents I'm So Sorry, Brooks I'm grieving with you. I Hope The Guy Who Poisoned Our Dear Bro, Will Also Do More Time In Jail To Help With Some Closure. Please Everyone Try To Stay Away From Dangerous Stuffs ❤️🙏🏽

Frightening how rife these drugs are. So sad. These folks are not to blame.

Your son's alive in Spirit. You'll be together again. You shouldn't feel guilty. You can't control what people do all the time. You did your best with what you knew at the time. Don't blame yourself. ❤

Yes, drugs are not discriminating … it can happen to anyone. Such a tiny amount of Fentanyl can kill you. I’m very sorry for these parents and brother - it is devastating to the whole family. I believe Blake is in a better place and you will see him again. May God bless you all. ❤️🇨🇦

It's hard being a parent of teens. You really don't know what you do and you do the best you can and sometimes it's not going to be good enough

They are right. People just look at us like junkies. When I was in the hospital when I OD the way I was treated by the nurses there was horrible. The way they talked to me, looked at me. If it was anyone else their attitude would of been a hell of alot different. I still think back to that time and I wish I said something to them. Oh well....

😢Rewind to the 80s, our parents, if they said the words 'one can kill' back then, it was fear mongering, now, that nightmare has become a reality. 😢
