minor tiny tip; I have this same press; and I grabbed some small neo magnets from Home depot and placed them on the inner side rail and they hold the jack handle nicely in place when not in use.

Those templates are exceptional and the glue setup way cool. I would probably screw the MDF caul to the press bar so it doesn't need to be lifted by hand when inserting the body for gluing - if only I had a press like that :D

I really liked watching you do progressive steps in assembling the guitar blank. For budding Guitar builders it gives meaning to the process. I’d love to see more. Press on!

Have you thought about putting paste wax on the pins so the glue doesn't stick? I have the "T" style templates and they are indeed the best templates in the galaxy.

Hi Mark That tape is good but we really like the stuff from Taylor Tools... we don't make any money on that one but I like the tape better and I want you to be happy

Super cool jig. I'll be curious to see if there's any issue with the finish in the center line area. My only concern when I first saw Steve's video was the center strap smashing the glue into the wood, which could maybe seal the pores and cause blotchiness in the stain. Even if that were an issue, it would be super easy to alter that to fix it.
@TexasToastGuitars2 жыл бұрын
I can see that, however, since we don't stain or dye woods here it ain't no thing. Well, I'd imagine it ain't no thing. We'll find out

Thanks Always loved the smell of walnut. On the smellovision meter it’s a +10 While on the opposite end of the spectrum is Zebrawood, with a solid -10. Now that wood smells like zebra dung and doesn’t machine as nicely either. Seems a bit brittle and the splinters from it were more problematic.
@TexasToastGuitars2 жыл бұрын
I love the way zebrawood looks but hate to work with it all at the same time. Ah, the joys of hippie wood hahaha
@KharmaBodiesGuitars2 жыл бұрын
@@TexasToastGuitars your videos always get my memories working. And you know our sense of smell works the same as when we hear a popular song from our distant past. It pulls us right back to our earlier younger feelings. So when I watch you machining wood and then talk about the smells I get catapulted back in time and I can smell that old “feeling “ too. I was also reminded of the sweet/sour smell of paduak. And the way it has a very different sensation to most other woods when it’s being machined.
