can you do this with shellac sanding sealer?
@TexasToastGuitars
@TexasToastGuitars 4 жыл бұрын
You can certainly spray shellac and sanding sealer over fabric... however, I know you will not get the same results we get. if you want something more rustic, than it might be the hot set-up? You will have to do some testing and see what you come up with. As I have stated before this is the way we do it and don't have experience with other materials.

Thanks Matt! I used epoxy on the one I'm working on. Its a pain to sand. It had to cure for a week before it wasn't too soft to sand. Looking forward to trying Symtec on the next one. It was an Epi LP Junior. I added "ears" to the headstock and covered it in fabric too. I'm trying to decide if I bind this one or if I just do a 1/4" round over and black burst around the edge. I appreciate the videos.

Hi Tim. One can do a lot of good work without a spray rig. Try a couple different things and see what works the best. A good paint brush would be a good choice... of course it would be ruined after one use but it might give you a smoother coating. Thanks for watching amigo

I have a squire strat that I'm thinking of customizing. I'm really digging this fabric top idea. Since it has a finish how hard would it be to put a fabric top on? As easy as just sanding the top and applying fabric? Or is it better to start with fresh wood.

Thanks for this series Matt. Love this fabric. Have you ever tried to glue silk fabric or similar ? I think that would be less porous than Cotton. @@TexasToastGuitars Ow.. i'm sorry about this Matt. I wasn't even aware you had a blog and my guess is, that many subsribers don't know this either ? Someone even commented on that matter on your blog. I've seen all off the vids and never heard anything mentioned about a blog, or did i missed something ? It didn't even came up to me to search for a website, because i'm used too watch the vids here and assume all the info is in there. I always do the effort to read all off the comments on every channel, so i don't ask the same question than someone else allready did , because it's time consuming for you. You put a lot off time in answering questions, even on other channels you replied on me about a week ago on Ken's Boudreau Guitars, wich i highly appreciate. Maybee you should mention more you have a blog , it could be a real time saver for you. Thanks again for the reply Matt ! Cheers from Belgium. EDIT: I read also a few times the " watch more" content above and NOW i see the link too your blog. Previously i didn't spend many attention to that, because i think of a blog is like the same as a vlog or an everyday journal like on Twitter and stuff like that, and i'm just not interested in that, because i confuse those things i guess. Maybee i'm not alone on this ?

Awesome video as always! I f*****g love these fabric topped guitars you guys make. Like those old '68 paisley Fenders, this fabric idea opens up SO many ideas! I do have a question, and I def. agree that only an asshole would ask you to answer questions without even having the sack to subscribe. I subscribed way back, and I just signed up for Patreon. I've learned so much from and enjoy watching your videos so much, I wish I could give more! Anyway... my quick question is... in one of the previous videos on this fabric top, you applied the Simtec Coatings EZ sanding sealer with the weenie roller, but then you said, you would spray a second coat; A.) Why spray a second coat instead of just wielding the weenie again? B.) That stuff looks kinda thick. Do you not have to alter it's consistency somehow to spray it? Okay... I lied; I have another short question. In this other Texas Toast Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXzSimh4r9Z8jZI you are spraying a double neck body in a copper metalic Deltron paint color. I would love to know what the name of that color is.

Hi Michael, thanks for watching subscribing and becoming a Patreon member. Are you watching the exclusive videos? Are they worth a crap? hahaha We sprayed the 2nd round because we wanted to show y'all as many ways as we could think of to apply this stuff. We had a lot to do so it was considerably faster to spray it and worth cleaning the spray gun. If you are only doing 1 it is probably much easier to roll it. Be sure to read my blog on this. There is a lot more information than in the videos... www.texastoastguitars.com/single-post/2018/10/16/How-We-Do-Fabric-Top-Guitars Let me look up that paint code for you next time I'm out in the booth, send me a reminder email so I don't have any excuses.

Search for something completely obviously awesome - like (seriously) "firefighter saves babies life" on youtube and you'll see down votes. You're videos are excellent, and people should know enough to take away what they can. Keep it up, Matt!
