I own a 2023 Crosstrek Limited, which has the same chassis, 2.5L engine, and TR580 CVT as this 2024. They are fantastic vehicles. I personally prefer the previous generation for a variety of reasons (physical knobs & buttons for HVAC is a big one), but you can't go wrong with the '24 either. When you closely compare the Crosstrek to each of its class competitors, it becomes very clear why they dominate the subcompact SUV segment. The CVT is actually very good for daily driving duties. It works quietly and smoothly in the background, and returns outstanding fuel mileage. I got 38mpg on a trip to the mountains this past weekend. That's extremely good for an AWD vehicle with this much tech.

have the same 23' limited.. agree about HVAC controls, essentially a perfect car.. for the limited if it had power liftgate, power seat for passenger, and a TURBO it would be PERFECT.

Got my '24 in December last year, love it! Drove from Cranbrook to Calgary (just over 4hrs) in -35 Celsius and I was oh so comfy. Beats my '99 Taco lol. Testing the off-road capabilities this weekend, hopefully the tires hold up I'm off to a bush hike!

I love it when the roof rack is low and easy to load. HVAC controls are a pain especially when you take your eyes off the road. Classic buttons would be safer.

Which controls are giving you an issue? Seems the most important in daily use are on buttons or right in easy reach / view. What am I missing here?

I have a 22 Sport, and I dealt with 600+inches of snow this past winter and I had no issues getting around. Some days were dicey when the road to work wasnt plowed, but never got stuck. Love the clearance and the subbie awd

I've been driving a 2017 Forester XT this week to work. It's definitely a fun ride. I have an 02 WRX Wagon and the Forester is a slightly more refined version. If they offered a turbo in the Crosstrek or the Impreza wagon again I would be there tomorrow.

Couldn't agree more! Fingers crossed it becomes an option down the road. The XT engine is excellent.

I’ve also got an ‘02 WRX wagon, bought new in ‘01, with 75k miles. Based on our experience renting a ‘23 Forester Wilderness last winter in New England, bought a ‘24 Impreza RS. We are in SoCa and while we hit up Tahoe in the winter we otherwise never go off-road. The RS is such a solid chassis, great riding, handling car. Not a hot hatch but a great daily driver, accessible tech, amazing safety systems and banging stereo.

I couldn't agree more with everybody that says this about the Crosstrek! a turbo engine would make this the complete car for me! if it happens in the next 2 years I'll definitely buy one from new! I usually buy 2 year old cars. Excellent video guys!!

I traded in my 2018 Crosstrek Limited for a 24 Crosstrek Limited. I found that everything about this car is improved: ride, comfort, acceleration, handling, and sound system. The extra power is great, but I think Subaru tuned the engine to not allow full throttle at lower RPMs. Regardless of mode (S or I) the car is sluggish off the line, but at some point, usually around 4,500 RPM the torque comes on like Honda VTEC. It seems artificial to me and I suspect Subaru tuned it this way to maximize gas mileage. I wish there was a chip to allow maximum torque at all RPMs. I bet this car is capable of 7.5 second 0-60!

The hood is light because it's aluminum, not because it's made in the USA. The Canadian Japanese made CrossTrek's also has aluminum hoods. And If you were counting the gears during your 0-60, you must have been using the paddle shifters? If so, you shouldn't have and just let in full automatic.

Not to call you out but official Subaru website claims the engine is actually built in Japan, the body is assembled in Indiana, to save costs. ( *that is for 2.5 L Boxer* )

I have a 19 premium. Doesn’t have all that crap like eyesight, the center control stack, has push button HVAC and the 2.0…released the 2.5 the next year. I’m very happy w my car, paid it off, only 28k. The engine did have to be pulled because of an oil leak. I suggest getting the Subaru extended warranty. Subaru used to be quirky but they’ve perfected AWD like Toyota has perfected the hybrid. Can’t go wrong with any Subaru.

Damn, an oil leak at less than 28,000 miles? Where was the leak coming from?

When you did the 0 to 60, it sounded like you left it in (I) mode instead of putting it into (S) sport mode, definitely is more responsive, and faster in the right mode.
@TexasTruckChannel6 ай бұрын
We were in sport mode. We tested both, with effectively the same results. Sport mostly made throttle mapping more aggressive anywhere shy of full throttle.

Brake torquing is the most useless measure of speed, and all ya amateur copycat KZbin car reviewers use it, followed by the words "okay, it's not gonna win any drag races, but that's not what this car is all about". AS IF any car on a public road is.
@TexasTruckChannel3 ай бұрын
Brake torqueing when launching a traditional auto makes a huge difference over simply flooring it from zero. Assuming there is enough traction and the vehicles nannies allow it. This also is helpful on some CVT's. This yields the best results for 0-60 testing. Also, we do test every vehicle off camera to see what it likes best to give it the best result in the real world. Thanks for watching.
