FOCUS on Domains 2&3!!! GOT IT!!! I'm currently working as a SpEd AIDE and i agree, we definitely are trying to teach them to be able to survive on their own once they graduate. Whether it be to be able to put on their clothes or tie their shoe laces, to being able to make themselves a simple sandwich. Thank you for breaking down the competencies.

This video was very helpful to me and straightforward when it came down to breaking down the competencies. I like how you emphasized the domains we need to concentrate on, this session was not only just informative but it also gave me a clear understanding of the examples you provided in this video. At the beginning, you mentioned the best way of teaching is becoming close and understanding each student individually. This is 100% true and helps so much with finding their needs and exactly how they can learn. The true challenge are the students that even with knowing them well, we know they DO NOT enjoy learning whatsoever. That's where more hands on and interactive assignments come in to at least keep them entertained. Showing you care makes them care a lot more for sure.

I love the way you compared this information to google. It really is our go to to be able to know what we need to do and what is expected of us as educators. You brought up a good point, if we can't explain it then we don't know it. We need to understand the competencies

This breakdown was extremely useful as I continue to study for Sped. Loved how you broke down each competencies word by word for better understanding. You are absolutely correct if you can't explain what is being asked and have to look up information, you don't know the info. This video showed how to dig deeper.

good to know that the mometrix is a good source but not the questions. I actually bought the TEXES special education EC-12 2nd edition. Good to know that i need to focus on Domains 6-12. its very helpful that you get to know your students because it helps when it comes to them doing their work and them knowing that you care about them. I have seen this alot of times that by the time I get these students they dont even know simple math or Algebra and this is in high school. I ask myself how did they get this far......

I'm glad that you went over the different domains in the video because while I may have read it, it really helped going over it to better understand what I need to know for the exam. Ive learned that i should not only know the dictionary definition of terms but i should also be able to explain and describe the meaning of different terms to someone else. We must develop curriculum for developing cognitive, academic, social, language, affective motor, functional, transition and career life skills for individuals with disabilities. Everywhere is a learning experience.

Very helpful video, I am currently working as a paraprofessional in a sped unit and we try and implement self advocacy to our students all the time. We have several new students this year and it has been a struggle but have seen so much improvement in most of them. Great tips and liked how you explained the domains.
