I’m retired too,and I’m loving it! Ideas from internet and great teachers that are available on line ! I didn’t know you could print pictures on fabric like you do! Quilting is my passion, and ideas keep coming, not enough time in the day! Thank you for your knowledge it is important to me!

Oh my goodness! Your background is so similar to mine. I, too, retired (actually semi-retired) from graphic design, forgoing fine art for the same reason. I got into surface pattern design for a while and am now making art quilts incorporating my photography. However, my pieces are fairly small, less than 20" usually. I'm absolutely in love with the art form. Your quilts are absolutely beautiful and I've really enjoyed your video. Thank you so much Jill for sharing your story.

Oil paints don’t have to be toxic. There are much safer pigments of high quality and lightfast without using cadmiums. I used to teach “ the low toxicity studio”. And some forms of cadmium’s are not absorbable through the skin or harmful to the environment. The wrong ones are both absorbable through the skin and bleed out into the environment in the landfill. Research research research. And use Gamsol, not turpentine, though turpentine is a better material for oil painting, it is toxic in the studio air.
