Fantastic work Ben! Another trick I use for avoiding too much grainy distortion with displacement maps is by applying a slight Gaussian Blur to the map, which smooths out the super fine details

before adding loopOut expression to your timeremapping, add an extra keyframe just 1 frame before the last frame and delete the last frame. this will solve showing a blank frame.

Oi Ben, great tut as always. I recently learned that when you check the continuously rasterize button on the pre-comp that has the loop expression, you will not get drop frames. Hope this helps :) keep up the great work!

this contains so many little tips that would normally take someone years to notice on their own. all of your videos are like 5 tutorials in 1. wanted to throw in a quick tip for anyone trying to make paper etc. textures look extremely gritty: on an effects layer (applied before color correction, but after your wiggle layer) add Sharpen (40 works well for 4k, maybe less for 1080) at full opacity. In general, paper and scratchy film textures + cranked up sharpen is a great way to upres low quality assets that your clients give you. Comes through in a pinch for things like ken burns documentaries, or those Vox-style explainers.

I think looping expressions optimize AE to not attempt to re-render anything else on that layer. If it sees more layers it renders them. But I could be wrong. I've never A/B tested it. Also, We Always Label our Layers Squad represent!
