you know there's not really any documentation on the battery drain with this head unit that I've seen on the internet so its hard to say if other people have had the problem too because its so new. My HU is for a jeep compass and I have a jeep patriot so I'm thinking if the HU works correctly that there is a very small chance that there may have been some signal the compass sent out to turn the HU off that my patriot didn't. I kinda doubt that tho, I'm guessing it is the product itself but no idea.. and yeah I will try to create a video for it, it was a pretty easy install all around even though I've never done any wiring or car stuff

Thanks so much for posting all of this. Does rerouting the constant (yellow) wire to your cigarette lighter (accessory) power source mean wiping the head unit's memory (clock/EQ/audio settings, etc) each time you turn the car off? Also, how is your audio quality? I'm concerned that the power of the pre-out may be weaker than the factory stereo and the amp may not be drawing enough power, leading to distortion. Is this the case? Thanks

So there are actually 2 constant power wires (which is why it drains) the yellow wire that runs from the canbus to the head unut isn't for memory it Is just to turn on the head unit and decipher steering wheel controls and other smart car features. There is a separate yellow wire that runs from the factory wires of your car to the android head unit and that one is the one that controls memory. My audio quality is actually really solid! I haven't had any problems with it and there are a thousand EQ adjustments you can make. I am installing an amp but that is only to add additional speakers to the back of my car

I could not figure out how to play sound through the aux connection, I think its only for an additional DVR video connection. I haven't tried the external mic, I remember when I first got the stereo the company said you couldn't put an external mic in but they have done newer models since then so it might be an option now

I saw how thin the Teyes CC2 is and it has a fan to cool the cpu, is your radio also equipped with such fan, if so, how warm does it get if you run Antutu on it?

yep it has a fan too! and it really never gets too hot. the cars fans are also right above it so it stays well ventilated. I've taken it on 10 hour road trips where its on the whole time and super hot outside and it has been fine

I have a question I have a after market preamped sub. How did you get your amp to work with the radio? Btw really liked the review of the radio reason I bought one as well. Way better than my stock radio, and the uconnect system was not good at all.

I just changed all of the speakers from audio coming from the head unit to audio coming only from the amp. you have to buy additional cables from the company to add the sub and amp

No it works without, i’ll usually download my maps and my spotify songs to use without the hotspot, plus you have bluetooth which doesn’t need it too

phone calls are honestly pretty good, I have never had an issue hearing or being heard during a call. The sound is about the same or maybe just slightly better than my original head unit (best upgrade you can do for your sound is replace the 4 door stock speakers, really cheap upgrade too) no regrets or issues besides a little battery problem due to incompatibility of my car and the stereo model. Its a great investment, I love driving so much more now that I have it and my friends all think it looks so sick

Have you heard Sony Xav stereos ? i had a bad time with an android ( guess non dsp version) unit long back and i had switched to sony xav 100 with stock speakers and they sounded just perfect. What would you rate the sound as compared to Sony or pioneer ? Please tell me the truth ! Does the DSP help in improving the sound clarity ?

havent had a whole lot of experience with Sony or pioneer but honestly any aftermarket stereo can only do so much on sound quality, upgrading your stock speakers is prob the cheapest car upgrade you can do for the most massive difference in sound quality. Upgrading your stereo really shouldn't be for the purpose of better sound quality imo. The DSP in this stereo made my sound a little better but it was a miniscule difference. My advice would be to just buy 4 5-way aftermarket speakers for about $80 on ebay and stick with whatever stereo you like best

I don't think there's a separate volume for calls (similar to a ringer sound on an iphone) it will just be the volume of whatever your stereo is at. But there might be a way to change it, I haven't seen one tho

I bought it separately, it is a weivision 360 camera system: www.amazon.com/dp/B0105XR91O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kYI2DbDFZHQ9E basically I havent completely figured out how to integrate everything to this stereo since it doesn't have an AV input option. On any other touchscreen stereo they will usually have AV input to plug the camera system into. There are 4 cameras, 1 in each rear view mirror, 1 in front, and 1 in back. The back is connected to the rear tail light, and the two side ones are connected to each blinker. This way whenever any camera gets power from the corresponding lights, it tells the stereo to switch to the AV input and show the cameras.

Hi Shaffe City @shaffecity . I bought the exact same model that you have. Now I realize that it seems to drain my car battery as well (just haf my first flat battery). I am just wondering if you set the head unit in "Sleep Mode" when you had your car battery drained? so when you restart your car, the unit just start playing the song without going through the powering up process or you turned it off completely and had the draining issues? Do you still have the problems? thank you for your info in advanced!

yeah mine was draining pretty fast if I didn't drive it for more than 24 hours. If it's draining now putting it in sleep mode or the other setting won't change the drainage because it is still drawing from the battery for memory. What I figured out is that the unit itself has 12v from the battery when it is off (which is normal) but the canbus (the little box that decodes all the signals from your car like steering wheel controls) is also drawing 12v while the car is off so those two together were tag teaming the battery while the car was off. So what I did is I took the yellow constant power wire going from the head unit to the canbus box and cut it and then tapped that wire into my cigarette lighter (any accessory wire would work) that way the canbus box only turns on when the car is on. I haven't had any battery issues since then

Although the unit is exactly the same as yours, but the Harness they provided is for other car (my car). I looked up the diagram, the Yellow cable that you said is for 12V DC. Was this the cable you cut and tap it to the cigarette lighter? or the 12V AC cable that you cut? coz my Harness, the Red cable has got the Label tagged as ACC which matching with the diagram provided and the yellow cable is DC 12V. @@winstonwithy7036 we might have different wiring harnesses, but with mine the only wire I cut was a wire that went straight from the head unit to the canbus box (I didn't touch the wires from the factory to the head unit) you wouldn't touch the accessory wire at all (the only accessory wire we need to alter is the cig lighter wire) basically there should be 2 12v (probably yellow) cables in the power port for your head unit (they might be tied together with black tape) one will be coming from the factory wires to power the head unit (leave that one) and the other one will be coming from the head unit and going to the canbus box (that's the one you cut and crimp to the cig lighter, it should be a pretty short wire because it only reaches from your head unit to the canbus box which is really close). Let me know if you have any more questions!

also you would only crimp the side of the wire coming out of the canbus box to the cig lighter, you can tie off the side coming from the head unit, u won't need that

Is this an Android Auto replacement head unit or just a head unit that runs Android? I'm assuming that it uses your mobile devices mobile data connection while it's in hotspot mode. I would have preferred that it has a USB port and it tethers to the your device. Do all of the Uconnect buttons on your steering wheel work with this unit?

yeah it’s just a unit that has capability of doing android auto. And yes it uses your mobile data if you want the stereo to connect to the internet. I don’t have any Uconnect buttons on mine, but all my steering wheel controls like volume and source all work with it. I would assume the U- connect buttons would not work with it

yeah dude it’s super sick, and i would say it may make the sound just fractionally better but it definitely is not intended to boost the quality of the audio in my opinion. and the one that i bought didn’t include the radio adapter but i think they come with the newer versions, i’m probably going to upgrade to the next model if they release one soon

@@gracefulstable I caught it in the install video. All you need is a $10 antenna adapter available anywhere that sales car radios. The tuner is built in. I'm all in on aftermarket amps, speakers, subs, etc. Just hate ordering blindly and potentially being stuck with it.

yes on wheel controls, no on factory camera. You will have to wire the existing camera with the new stereo’s camera inputs or just replace the camera altogether with the included cameras. Both of those options are not super difficult but ideally you would find someone who has done it before or just watch some videos to get confident at doing it yourself!

No I dont have a factory amp but there are 2 possibilities that come to mind: You haven't configured the correct settings in the Canbus Settings spot in your head unit settings, or you will need to connect your factory amp to the amp inputs on your head unit (you may need to purchase the amp setup separately if you haven't already) I just installed an aftermarket amp and am connecting it to the amp inputs on the unit currently

whats the pros & cons for this Android head unit compare to Android Auto unit? is this the end of Android Auto? Does this unit requires internet@wifi@mobile data to operate everything? most mobile phone data do not have unlimited quota in my country.

i think it’s way better than just a normal head unit with android auto because you can pretty much do everything that android auto could do with this unit without plugging in your phone, and if you really want android auto you can add it to this one with an adapter. It would need internet to download apps but if you download all your music on spotify and download your google maps then you shouldn’t need internet at all!

I don't have the 8 speaker one so I'm not sure, a lot of times you will need to do some tinkering with the factory amp to make it play nice with the new stereo. I'm not sure what the stock wiring looks like for your setup but it might work with the adapter they send you. Battery is doing well, I had to rewire the canbus decoder box because it was drawing too much power from the car when it was off but I'm not sure if everyone would have that problem but ever since it has been fine for me

you will need to go to settings -> car models, then select your cars make and model. Then you should have an app for the AC controls

you would probably need to buy an adapter of some sorts or wire it manually to use the factory camera. If you're willing to do the work to add the aftermarket camera u may get slightly better video quality but it would take more work, it depends on what you're comfortable with doing

did you connect every cable? there should be a small brown box connector that sometimes people forget to install. Also i would check your radio fuse to see if it blew when you were installing it

yep they gave them to me without asking but that was about 7 months ago. There wouldn't be a way to play the cameras at the same time because the reverse camera is only activating by putting your car in reverse, there isn't an app you can open at anytime. Also once you are in the reverse app you can't leave that screen at all because the hu knows its in reverse so its a safety thing I'm guessing. I got a 4 camera adapter that I split the output into the reverse camera and the front camera output so when I put my car in reverse I can see the four cameras but I can also go to the front camera app and view all 4 at any time

I believe that you will have the ability if you choose the correct canbox settings but I have never had a car that can do that extra stuff so im not 100% sure but im guessing if the stereo is made for your car than you should have the functionality

I think by now the company has improved the model and I dont think it's an issue anymore but on the chance that it still is what I did was I connected one of the power wires to the cigarette lighter so that it only turned on when the car was turned on

updates are from a app that is on there, usually nothing crazy changes. It does have carplay and android auto but you have to buy an adapter for it ($35) and download an app on the device. And mainly just the wallpaper can change, they have a few motion backgrounds but you would have to jailbreak it to add more themes probably

idk if all cars need an adapter but Chrysler doesnt play well with others so the factory radio wire needs an adapter because it is shaped like a box and the head unit wire is circular so I bought an adapter to put them together

@@JasonGoddard15 if the amp and sub are aftermarket then you will just need to buy an adapter for the head unit, I could link it to you if thats the case. (I have an aftermarket sub and amp in my jeep so I used that adapter and it works great) if its factory than you would need to do some cutting and crimping of the wires to the harness but yeah it would totally work

I would suggest checking your owners manual to see if it was included with your model. Another more MacGyver way would be to take out the fuse that is labeled: 'amp' and then see if the music still plays in your car without the fuse

I havent really looked into saying ok Google for the radio alone because usually my phone will pick up my voice, if you are on the bluetooth app tho, the stereo will catch your voice and tell your phone to pull up Google assistant I'm sure there is a way to do it tho. The resolution is the highest quality that I have seen for a stereo. The looks of the apps really made the final decision for me because a lot of the other android head units have really low quality looks for their apps

I'm pretty sure you just slide the screen to the left with one finger like you do on an iPhone to get to the other apps and to bring an app to the home page you hold your finger on the app and move the app to the left to the menu page

you need to find a setting called car model or something and then find the name of your car model on there. That all has to do with the canbus settings for your car, once you setup your car model the stereo will restart and you should have all of that functionaloty

I prefer the spro because I personally wasn't a fan of the cc2 and cc3 design. There's not a whole lot of difference except that the cc's have the car animation and a different homescreen. Not a whole lot of difference performance wise
