I know it frustrates and saddens me a lot. I hope at some point Tezuka Productions decides to release these OVA films on DVD. The entire Tetsuwan Atomu series could do with re-releases. I would love more than anything in the world to purchase the original Japanese with subtitles, or bigger yet to see a new overseas dub staying true to the content of the original. 2003 was heavily cut up in English and doesn’t hold a candle to the original Japanese version 😞 I know Little Astro Boy and other adaptations are happening. I only hope there’s another big boost of Mighty Atom to encourage releasing these older titles. I would really love my nephews to experience this series in all its entirety.

I managed to find the full movie (actually it's a short film, about 20 minutes long) with no subtitles. It reminds me of 'the Matrix' with Ochanomizu in a submarine being chased by jellyfish like robots (just like Morpheus was in his hovercraft). There is a final conflict with Atom and Ochanomizu against a large computer with a female holographic projection. Then the entire thing turns out to be a dream as Atom wakes up to be hugged by Uran.

GurinX You can buy it from Japan but it’s on a Japanese Amazon and I’m just learning Japanese so it’s hard for me. There were so many steps until I gave up. It was asking for so much. If I bought it, I’d put it on my channel.

Jesus. If this trailer wasn't ironically indicative of Astro Boy's fate, then I don't know what is. Literally NOBODY cares about Little Astro Boy or the other version that came before, the reboot hasn't gotten any news in over nearly a year at this point, same for that Pluto anime, and it surely doesn't look like we'll ever be seeing any cool re-releases or anything of past shows. ATOM: The Beginning ended a year ago and TezukaProductions has done literally NOTHING with the 2003 Astro Boy anime on Netflix in ages. And then to really hasten that noose around this poor bastard's neck, there doesn't seem to be any way to really contact anyone supposedly involved within this series directly who hasn't downright died at this point. Unfortunately, one can say that Astro is definitely past his prime. He was made to advocate against nuclear war, and once that ended, he seemed to decline in public awareness, and that absolutely depresses me.

That's so freaking sad. The 2003 anime is my absolute favourite version of Astro Boy. We can only hope they're still working on the Pluto anime adaptation. I don't want the fandom to die.

Kitty Originally called Tetsuwan Atom, or Atomu. I think it was the second manga ever made right after unico and in 1950s or 60s was the first anime every made. That was originally in black and white. 1980s came out with another Atom reboot, and then 2003. the 2003 has, I think, five mini movies all only for Japan. The only ones I remember the names for are The Birth of Atom (or Astro) and there is a non subbed version on here, the trailer we are currently on now, and Earth's Last Day. Oh and there is a children's show reboot in Japan right now that started 2016 I think and there's a reboot based on the 2010 Astro Boy movie.

Oh and I forgot the more recent manga called PLUTO. It's not all about Astro, but he and Zoran are in there and play a major part to the plot. There's a lot of angst in that one and its drawn to make them more human than cartoon.

I have never been this offended before! HOW DARE THEY PUT ASTRO IN A MUSEUM!!! He was the embodiment of all that was right with the world and they deactivated him?! I am soooo triggered! I need the whole thing, with subtitles, also Astroboy vs IGZA, Volume of the Blue Knight, Earth's Last Day and The Secret of Atom's Birth. BTW I looked up the plot and on AstroBoy Online it says Astro wakes up in the end because it was all a dream so I'm slightly less mad because they didn't actually do that. Astro must be insecure about his future to dream of becoming obsolete. However, the time hunters episode showed that there are no robots in the future and that makes me mad because something must have happened to Astro because the idiot from the future had never heard of him. Sorry, rant over.

I like this theory. It would make sense why Atom would be placed in a museum if they were unable to repair/reactivate him. If I recall there was a preview years ago set after this where after saving the boy, Atom collapses again. The lighting bolt might’ve knocked something back into place but completely repair him. In all I really like the post-apocalyptic theme of this one 😌 it’s like Atom got sucked into the Matrix world.
