This is a great introduction into stabbing via trick-stabs Nate, kudos! However one thing I'd note, is it's better to develop the habit of landing on people's heads at a 180° angle as opposed to landing facing their back you can back-stab a bit quicker that way and it pretty much eliminates the chance of you over-shooting their position if you're aiming for the top of their head.
@NateFoxTF29 жыл бұрын
Jewlander That's true. I couldn't decide how I wanted to explain it because I didn't want people to accidentally land in front of the player instead of on top. But yeah, generally if you aim to land on their heads it should work out just fine! ^^

Contrary to popular belief, you should only turn 90 degrees. As a spy main, when stairstabbing, this makes it less obvious and you don't expose your back when stairstabbing a spy.

How to counter trickstab: back up. Its the opposite of countering trolldier. Spy stairstabbing? Back down the stairs. Spy chasing you? Face them directly and hold s. See a good spy? Just hold that s key and back away. Don't see a spy? Look up if you're under a cliff or high place. Look down if you're on said high place. Not on either of those? Look around. No spies in the game? Idk, wait for one i guess.

Nate, I play a Roblox version of TF2. It's called Typical Colors 2. I go to a menu after joining the game, adjust my settings for the corpses, and click play. In this version, weapons are changed. Take the Supersaw, for instance. In TF2, the Ubersaw has a 20% speed decrease. With the Supersaw's decrease doubled. I main what the game calls "Flanker". And I play others in situations my team is defending or Medival Mode. Here is one trick I have learned for each class. Some of these I learned way before a major overhaul that is, adding funds, crates and others. To the tricks!!! For Flanker, his shuriken does 16 damage on hit, and bleed damage makes the target go up to 30 damage taken. Use this with the Brooklyn or Shortstop to finish them off. Brooklyn is good for extra bleed damage and Shortstop is good for it's 200 damage increase for close range. For Trooper, using the Parabomber allows you to Air Strafe. Use this to your advantage with good accuracy. For Arsonist, you can spread flames around with the default flamethrower and switch to your shotgun to kill enemies at close range. For Anihalator, you can put down stickies on points for surprise attacks. If your stickies are being destroyed at the other spawn, switch the directly on the point. This really doesn't fool anyone anymore since this was only a Meta tactic before people went all Demo Knight and stuff. For Brute, you can't throw the Burger, but you can bodyblock by eating it. This is hard as hell to master... For Mechanic, you can put your teleporters down and grab an MAK, or Medium Ammo kit, place the dispenser down, then sentry. Level them like this: Sentry, Dispenser, Teleporter. For Doctor, there is no Crossbow of healing or Blutsager like weapon. After damage stops for 5 seconds, the Doctor gets 6 health every 2 seconds. And can decrease the time needed for self heal. For Marksman, using the Stock sniper is effective for long attacks, but only use on Flankers, Jumping Troopers or Anihalatora if they're unaware of you and heading for you. For Agent, equipping the Ambassador reduces her cloak gain from ammo boxes by 50%.

Nate, love the video man, as a spy main, I can say this is some pretty good advice. but I'd like to say a couple of tips that would further help. tip one, take in your surroundings. listening for certain sound and knowing how to differentiate between them can help in knowing who is near, what weapon they use, and if they have a medic, what medigun they have. this can assist with knowing what you may be going up against, what you should do, and being able to detect an enemy spy decloak (along with what watch they use). next tip, use the kill feed and scoreboard to your advantage. this goes hand in hand with the first tip. not only can you further confirm what weapon they enemy has, but you can also know who is alive and dead. knowing how many people are in an area and knowing if you have any teammates to keep the enemy distracted will allow a safer killing spree. the last tip is this, never stand still for too long. this is my golden rule, because in a game like tf2, lots of things are happening and many stray bullets and

Hey Nate! This is a very nice video, it helped me alot (i already knew how to do them, but i couldnt time them right sometimes)! Oh and by the way, i dont know if anyone knew this already, but i found a new trickstab. If i can make a video about it, ill upload it on my channel, but you basiclly do this: You need an enemy going up the stairs and you need another enemy at the end of the stairs or further. (I personally recommend you doing "bind mwheelup +jump" or "bind mwheeldown +jump" in the console, its easier to jump) After that, you want to jump to the enemy's head that is coming up, quickly use the mwheel that you binded and strafe to the other enemy. I personally call it the "Bunny Stab". Try it out on tr_walkway, its amazing!

Sticky jumping is done similar to rocket jumping, but you choose when to detonate. Though you can't do the tricks you can rocket jumping, you move a LOT farther and higher(using the sticky jumper, I hit the the roof of the skybox on HIGHTOWER. FROM THE GOUND.) Just shoot it a small distance ahead of you, so that the bomb arms, jump, and right click to detonate as you pass over the sticky to launch your self. You can, as a matter of fact, do this with your primary pipes(excluding loch'n'load unless you some how get on top of someone) as well, if you get them to not roll too far(done best by aiming down and shooting at a wall or corner), but the timing is very weird.

Trickstabs are the awesomest and funnest thing to do with Spy. Another pro of knowing trickstabs, is that you know how to avoid them aswell (because you know the movement of the stab and how the Spy is gonna do it). If I quickly recall, I've only been trickstabbed 3 times in my Tf2 time. The first two was where I was unaware they exist and the third time, I predicted the stairstab and moved backwards, but the spy stayed on my head and just crouched and stabbed. Knowing trickstabs makes it possible for you to avoid them. Now that's awesome.

@TheHeadHunter10009 жыл бұрын
Emiel M van Schaik "No such thing as a facestab" It is a stab based on lag compensation. If you have two players facing each other going the same direction. The hit boxes get misplaced in the client side vs server side. When the spy swings on the misplaced hit box it registers as a back stab. Thus an incorrect registration of a back stab. While the two players are facing each other. Hence the name Face Stab.

I just realized that I was trickstabbing before I knew what trickstabbing was. I had a lot of experience in a game on Roblox called Blood and Iron which I played competitively. It was a napoleonic battle game and the melee mechanics heavily relied on you tricking the enemy and dodging their own melee swings by getting behind them and stabbing them yourself and planning clever routes and ways to trick your enemy. This game seriously made me really good at corner stabs and matador stabs. This game also made me very proficient at not getting trickstabbed myself because the block mechanic in the game required you to be facing the enemy while they try to slash you. You learn how to track your enemies in melee combat very easily and I can get a good laugh out of the spies that try to trickstab me. Even my friend who is a fucking tryhard ass spy main only trickstabbed me once while I was in a duel with someone and mid combat. This stupid ass Roblox game helped me be better at spy than actually practicing stabs.

if u guys having problem with the "stair-stab", here is how u do it 1)if u see a enemy opponent (if u have a spy-cicle if u encounter a pyro, dont use it) going to chase u, going up the stairs 2) jump over the enemy (dont hold crouch, u can crouch over them if u want to) 3) after u went over, here is the trick, holding crouch making the gravity pull u down faster and take fall damage (not on the stair) 4) the hitboxes may be bigger to backstab, but try to do it

I must recommend Mr. Paladin's tutorial. He delves into much more and necessary detail. I consider this as a introduction to trick stabs but you can learn a bit more in Mr.P's video if you desire.
@nyet38627 жыл бұрын
+Aventine He doesn't really teach anything about trickstabs, the majority of his tutorials are made with his friends that know that they must fall for it. Watch stabby or slurgi instead.
@theren83117 жыл бұрын
I haven't done any searches for a Stabby tutorial, so I don't know if any exist at the moment, if they do. But Mr. Paladin does go into depth with what trickstabs are and how to attempt them, which is the point of a tutorial, so in my belief he does teaches something about them. A lot in my opinion. If in the case that Stabby doesn't have a tutorial and you're suggesting watching his videos and learning, then that's completely against the point of tutorials relating to the subject. As I mentioned the tutorials, here by Nate and over there by Mr.P, are meant to teach what they are (like what a corner stab is, what a fake corner stab is, understab etc.) and give you pointers on how to attempt them so you can go ahead and try it. I would watch Stabby just to see how he approaches them as well, but if you are a beginner that doesn't make sense because you'll be left wondering, "what the hell did I just see?". For instance, say Stabby doesn't have a video, and you watch him and see a trick done, for example a version of the stair stab. A key move in a stair stab is to press crouch while doing so. If you simply just watch to learn, you'll never know that Stabby is pressing crouch in the middle of a stair stab. Those little bits are what you learn, here and over by Mr.P.
