I don't really play TF2 any more. After thousands of hours I just felt like I had to move to other games, especially when it seemed Valve's own enthusiasm for TF2 had been dropping for some time. Been really into EVE Online in the interim, became CEO of a huge corp, WINGSPAN Delivery Services. Check it out!

Basically we held a "pledge drive" where if we got a certain number of donations to Child's Play Charity, when we hit certain thresholds we would delete a certain number of wrenches. We also had a wall of recognition where everyone who pledges over a certain amount would have their name enshrined on it. At the end of the fundraiser, we had demolished all our milestones so we ended up deleting all the wrenches we had! Child's Play got $31k and TF2 got -14.5 wrenches!

TF2 can't be played by one person for an eternity It'd get BORING Infact as of now i'm jumping across games like a crazed rabbit or some shit Mostly free ones, but i've bought a few before Although alot of them are dead or just not my kind of game AND WHY DOESN'T ANY GAME USE BOTS ANYMORE!? I wouldn't be playing tf2 as nearly as much as i do because of the bots It's fun to take a map and fix the nav mesh issues ...Except ctf_HellPower, it's a literal bot hell (There's alot that needs to be done to fix it cause the bots keep walking into the lava one way or another, usually they're trying to do it) Or host a dedicated server to mess around with plugins like the now-deceased UberUpgrades plugin Which after having used makes me feel bad for the bots who couldn't use it and got absolutely rekt by me

Spartan War118 actually Iam still playing TF2 after several years and Iam still having fun and meeting new people yes the community servers are dead and such but the community itself is alive and new updates are dropping and a small dev team is working on reviving TF2 and the pyro is becoming a balanced class with other classes getting new stuff like JoJos buzz are adventures Hat and vest for Heavy

I was actually lucky enough in my thousands of hours in TF2 to have played a game with a Golden Wrench Engineer somewhere around 2013 - 2014. Considering that over 3 years had passed since the Golden Wrench released, and of the THOUSANDS of servers that one man of about 90 current Wrench owners was on mine, on my team, AND was playing Engineer. I'd say that's pretty much the absolute pinnacle of statistically impossible.

I actually met wrench 101 on a pub once, i saw the special "community effects" on one of his weapon and checked his profile to see what it was, i just happen to stumble on the golden wrench in his inventory. I think he was Swedish like me aswell. I got Star struck of course and told everyone in the chat, but they just said that noone cares. Classic TF2.

Ah, the nostalgia. I remember dreaming of finding one with my friends. Once we were playing on some random map and someone got it! You can't imagine the amount of jealousy this created. The Golden Charity event was something special in a strange way. The people who got their wrenches would destroy them in the name of charity and fairness towards others (the ones that indeed did destroy them of course). Looking back at it, our envy was unfounded. Based on the simple concept of not having something that someone else had, even though that something was just zeroes and ones in the end. The Golden Wrench events taught me about life.

I love the fact that the Golden Wrench and Australium Wrench are both different things. Australium is the Basic Gold of TF2, with it's shiny goldlike look, But the Golden Wrench truly is a Tale of Tales Story. Being the first Golden weapon, imbued with powers. And the Golden Wrench Charity is a wonderful way to explain it's true history. 10/10 Props to you good sir.

BagFullOfSandViches Crafting weapons is not worth it. To craft the "cheapest" one you need like 3 scrap metal, but you can just trade and get it for 0.5 scrap. Weapon crafting is dead dude.

That would require Valve to send everyone the update. If you tried to modify your game to give yourself a golden wrench, it wouldn't work.

Well from that point you'd have to disconnect your copy from valve's connection, and steam's And even then TF2 "needs" you to be connected for various things But if you connected it to your own little database/server/whatever THEN you could give yourself what ever you want Considering you knew how to do it, i mean if you've gotten this far it shouldn't be a problem to rewire the drop system.. But on the downside, no valve servers to connect to and show off your cheated (and probably at this point, somewhat deserved) loot or just host a dedicated server with the giveweapon plugin....

Uh, dude that (0:16) is the australium wrench. You can recognize the Golden Wrench because everything but the handle and the ridge is gold, whereas the australium wrench's main shaft is regular metal :P

Ooooh... this thing. THIS FUCKING THING! As a old time veteran I have worked day and night to craft and get one of these wrenches but alas... I never got it. It still makes me salty to this day on never getting one and sad it never became a reality.
