Maybe stopping isn't the answer but, *for real* , don't ever try playing Spy if you aspire to have anything other than fun with your matches. You aren't gonna be content trying to win games or stuff like that when there are classes that can do it easier, faster and taking less risks. Even when I try to have fun sometimes there is just such a lack of team that not even that is possible and I need to play Engie or Pyro the next match just to relax and get my mind on track again.

But, I also did that, and ended up really frustrated because in the few occasions I did play Spy (like, team had no spy and had good composition so that was my chance) it ended up really frustrating me how either the team was so good they would push the enemy so hard I could do literally nothing if not assist a cap; or the team was so bad that even if I managed to carry for a while I'd only extend the suffering. From my experience, play spy whenever you like, whenever you don't want to play anything else. Or rather, whenever you want to win or have fun with more serious things, play someone else. It's just a personal experience but I'm not the only spy main who experienced some sort of detrimental regret. Even Stabby stabby, probably the most famous spy youtuber (I know it sucks to mention youtubers as examples, sorry, just saying the word youtuber hurts me too but whatever), at least at the time he was pretty popular, I heard he became a pyro main for a while because Spy was simply too frustrating at times. No matter how good you've gotten with it no matter how you played it. It sometimes is just as frustrating as when you were a complete newbie to the game and couldn't figure out people were able to see you because you were wet from going into the water. It doesn't help Valve has no clue what to do with Spy which honestly sucks because his update was the best one in my opinion. Yes. the hats were part of the reason. (it was sniper's update too but who cares? he didn't even get a boomerang, the most 'caricaturistic' Australian weapon, instead he got a piss jar. wtf. I'm still not over that)
