If you ever want to try this again, you could get a instant 'decloak and recloak' bind, and since (like you said) people are more attuned to normal spy tells, more people would try and get you, causing more problems!

The reason you couldn't use your noise maker anymore is because your disguise had a dueling game in their action slot, so the action key was trying to use that instead.

This is similar to what I've always liked to do when bored. Haven't done it with the noise maker but I prefer these methods to screw with engies specifically; 1) spam C+5 (laughing ominously, whistling), the spy voice command, and the threat voice command (C+2 while looking at an enemy with your melee equipped) 2)as soon as an engie leaves the nest, sap just one building. Its not enough to destroy it usually, so its like constantly blueballing the engie. 3)If your victim is idle or stops caring about your taunting, walk out of range and take a couple potshots at his buildings. Again, don't destroy them, just be a nuissance. 4) While they spy check around you, evade while using the "Nice Shot!" voice command to taunt them further

I can explain why it was showing duel screens at the end. The player you were disguised as had a Dueling Mini-game in their action slot, which for some reason or another, makes the game believe that you have a dueling game equipped instead of your other action slots items. The most common occurrences of this happening (and how I found out myself) is during Scream Fortress on maps that have spells enabled, however, can also happen in Mannpower, or (like in this instance) in regular casual matches. This only occurs on Spy (for obvious reasons) and the duels themselves won't actually go through.
