I bought this aircraft not too long after the initial release and I generally love it. I agree that the taxi behavior as a bit quirky compared to anything else I've flown on MSFS, but any trijet is a good airplane IMO. We just need the DC-10 from AeroDynamics and an L-1011 now. I'm glad to see they've added terrain and weather displays too.

I love listening to the itineraries of seasoned pilots and traveled. It’s like listening to astronauts - the distances and flight phases are talked about so casually. Theyre talking about the TRUE scale of things vs our generally super-limited street scale thinking. Don’t know why but I like it. One gets a real “we are all in this together” and not just the common “I am the world” thinking. 👍

The taxi behaves realistically actually. The MD11 nose touches the ground at an angle with relatively little contact compared to the mass of the plane. To turn sharply properly: 1) you have to be at less than 10 knots 2) slowly advance the tiller and allow the nose gear to follow through with the weight of the AC 3) if you go full left or full right immediately you will skid

There are videos of MD-11’s in the real world skidding the nose wheel during turns if they are taxiing quickly. It’s a tail heavy jet with a strange nose wheel geometry that lifts one tire off the ground at full deflection. You can see the same behavior on the nose wheels of Gulfstreams during tight turns. I would be curious to see a test of this add-on with the payload set to a full nose heavy CG. I WONDER IF THE CG is being calculated in the taxi performance? If not, then it definitely needs to be tuned by the developers.

Many MSFS planes (especially the default planes) have this weird ground-turning issue. The default C172 and B747-8 can't turn with only nose wheel steering and under 10kts. It feels like the plane has tremendous inertia when taxing. I think they just copied the default ground physics to MD-11.

As a TFDI MD11 enjoyer i can tell you the behaviour of the aircraft is very quirky. I usually take turns below 7kt on ground and never apply full input below 3 (the majority of aircraft in MSFS doesn't behave well with full input on ground anyway). Another thing is keep a constant eye on the speed when taxi (on idle power you will get 25kt on a blink of an eye). It's a shame that you can't modify certain fuel numbers on the second page of the init, like alternate airport fuel or the trip fuel (i think you only can modify the final time fuel at this current state). Other than that, its a beautiful aircraft to fly! PS: ACARS seems to work fine to me.

I fully disagree with your statement that time acceleration is an extremely important feature for a long-haul plane. Much more important is the ability to enter the correct winds-either the overall component or for each waypoint. Fuel calculation isn‘t working, and how can you do RTA‘s or get reliable ETA‘s without. This is the most expensive plane for MSFS and it lacks this kind of basic functionality, which other (cheaper!) add-ons have.
@A330Driver2 ай бұрын
So with all those features you mentioned, how is the average simmer going to fly the long haul plane realistically if he doesn't have the time to use it? Fly the 777 from FRA to MUC? You'll probably agree that that's not quite realistic, is it?
@themacallan9782 ай бұрын
