Very good review. I flew the SQ a359 (medium haul) from SIN-CAN and the experience was very good. The in flight map displays innovative features including latitude and longitude, bearing, date of flight, tail registration number, flight no, tail wind and population of the nearest city. As well it displays the current times in all other cities around the world. Downs; unfortunately, the flight doesn’t have Live TV onboard the plane. Only the long haul and ULR A350 have the Live TV. At least I was able to survive without live TV. Fun fact: the SQ A359 (ultra long haul and long haul) have the Panasonic ex3 (which has live tv) while the medium haul runs under Thales Avant Up entertainment system.

Great video…I’m looking forward to my October flight on SQ from LAX to SIN in premium economy. The budget doesn’t stretch for business, but it should still be reasonably comfortable…even for such a long haul flight. I’ve flown AA in premium economy from LAX to HKG and been comfortable.

Only flew with sq once but I’ll agree they are up there as being the best. On the point of the seat pitch I imagine like me your not vertically challenged which isn’t too bad on a short haul flight but on long haul when the person in front of you reclines the seat it makes a huge difference

To be fair, most of the newer generation seats don't effect your knee space nearly as much as the older generation seats when they're reclined. Just a different mechanism for the pivot. Thanks for watching 🩴

Sorry to disappoint but it's not a change, just a one off for these three flights haha. The price will still be in the description going forward for a list of reasons that seems to grow lol. The Vinfast cars are honestly absolute crap but their "luxury" option is often significantly cheaper than Grab 7... and the cars have much more professional drivers. Less lingering smoke smells in the Xanh SM cars.

I agree with everything you say about SQ, but my god they are expensive these days. Twice in the last few months I've had to shop around for flights from Singapore to the UK and SQ are always my first choice. But literally twice the price of Emirates for economy seats? Not to mention Emirates goes to far more UK locations, SQ only serve London and Manchester these days. My last trip I went with Qatar because of air miles, this time I'm paying cash and Emirates wins hands down. So disappointing with SQ in that respect. Possibly the only respect....

Great video as always Kevin. We actively avoid SQ now from Australia to SGN for our regular trips to visit family purely because of the seat comfort or lack thereof and lack of legroom for myself. I loved their old A330 777 and 380 economy but their new economy seats are horrible.

just a fyi, im actually a flight steward with SQ we do have vegetarian options onboard called the ambient meals which are like prepacked ready to heat microwaveable vegetarian options which are like our LAST RESORT go to meals for passengers who never ordered vegetarian meals or crew members who are vegetarians but its better to prebook your veg meals before hand rather than depend on these meals😂

Used SQ for the previous 10 years, average 10 flights a year, covid period apart. My last 8 flights where not good dreadful service on 2 in particular. I have switched to the One world alliance, I have lots of Kris flier miles so will possibly use them again... But there are better options out there... Good review though 👍

I always have 2 with me (one digital and a backup tape) but I only use it for business class seats. These days "pitch" is so related to the thickness of the seat itself that it would just make it too complicated to explain and breakdown what the exact measurements are. Seat width and bed length in Business Class are much more black and white.

Having the menu on the IFE makes so much sense, I'm at a loss as to why it's not universal - easier to update centrally, cuts down on paper usage; it's a no-brainer. On a similar note, airlines should also put a rough timetable on there, showing how long after take-off/before landing they will be serving drinks and meals. Particularly on long flights, it lets you know when you've got time to nap/work/etc and (assuming you can check before the flight on the airline's app) you can get an idea of whether you need to eat at a lounge in the airport first.

Pitch isn’t as bad on the aircraft they use to Germany- though they do occasionally send the regional configuration to Narita (with their 78Xs). Haneda is usually a safer bet.

All airlines charge much much more for non stop flights. Then on top of that home country origin is always the most expensive. Dubai to London on Emirates and Doha to London on Qatar is more expensive than Singapore to London on either of the airlines despite being double the distance.

Daily searching from many many (many) city pairs. I don't look at award searches as "I need to get from Mumbai to Buenos Aires" I look at them as "I need to get from Asia to South America" and am willing to do any repositioning flights if need be.

Yea, the imbalance of points earning potential is staggering to say the least. It seems- with Amex at least there are three tiers. North America, then big drop down to Australia (but they still get some good value) and then a drop to basement level 7 for the rest of everyone else.

Hello Kevin, sorry if it seems that this question came out of nowhere, but do you have plans covering any mainland Chinese carriers any time soon? I recently flew with Air China from IAD to PEK and back and had a really mixed experience. The food was horrendous, there were very limited drink options. The personal entertainment system was outdated and slow. However, the seats were fairly comfortable and there were enough films to keep me from getting bored throughout the flight. I am just curious if you have any such plans, given your extensive coverage of Asian carriers, and it is totally fine if you do not plan do so any time soon.

No, I have no plans for them soon, for a variety of reasons- mainly China continuing to lag far behind the rest of the world bringing their flight levels back to anywhere near pre-covid levels leading to absurdly high fares.

U should do KLM economy class. I took them a week ago from Singapore to Bali. Horrible service. Rude cabin crew..it was unbelievable. It was a short flight just over 2 hours. I was cold during the flight and they wouldn’t give a blanket because it was a short flight they said. So people dont get cold on a short flight? 😂 and they didn’t have pillow either. After watching this video, even SQ gives pillow on a short flight, and im sure they would give a blanket. So no excuse for KLM. I also asked for a hot tea during the meal service and they wouldn’t serve it😂 note that there was no turbulence and the seatbelt sign was off. They just didn’t care about the customers and wanted to get the flight over with.

Done 4 back to back biz class flights with them. Totally unimpressed. On one flight the cabin crew actually woke me up for meal service 🙄🙄🙄 That's just NEVER done!!! For me, it's all marketing hype.

Everyone has their own experiences, and yours is completely valid- but crew waking pax up for meal service is a very (very) common occurance... if you don't want to be woken up, just tell them at the beginning of the flight and they'll DND your seat.

@tfft in econ, maybe Not in biz. That's my experience with every other airlines I flew biz with. Qantas, Japan, Cathay and BA. Even SQ, but I have not flown with them for 5 years. Their biz cabin meal service protocol must have changed 🙄 They have ALL served the meal after I awake. In one instance, it was even offered just an hour before landing (by Qantas and with a smile) .... but of course, I declined, not wanting to inconvenience them.

Showing the safety video is more meeting a legal requirement than actual safety! In an emergency don't think majority of people will remember what to do, they just follow the next person even if they are wrong! It's like in the heat of the passion - you forget is it the bra or the panties that come off first, belt or the fly! LOLLZZZZ

I think Japan Airlines would really disagree with you. On every flight, there's at least one person who has never been on a plane before. Even if just for them, it's worth the time to watch.
