Hey Nathan, Great review, and I share your love for wagons. BTW, the "exploding hood" feature allows the TourX to meet government safety regulations and keep the belt line low and stylish. Come to the Pacific Northwest and see where we take our wagons. Of course they’re overwhelmingly Subaru Outback. This car could have done what VW couldn’t do: beat the Outback. It’s got more power from a more modern engine, a bit more cargo space and the right price. But that low clearance kills its potential. Even in slightly deeper snow you’ll be stuck with this car. Off road is limited to the gravel you’ll drive for 200 yards to where the trail parking lot is.
@joshua.harazin6 жыл бұрын
George T. And that's fine. This car is not for those people. This car is for people who are willing to trade ground clearance for better driving dynamics. Not everything needs to be off-road capable. Agree on the looks, this is vastly better looking than most crossovers. I think only Mazda and Porsche are excepted. The pedestrian hood is a European thing. Remember, this Buick started life as an Opel. Europe has stringent pedestrian safety standards, which, for example, is why they can’t have the new Corvette ZR1... all the front aero bits would annihilate a pedestrian unfortunate enough to be hit by one. Not mandatory stuff here yet, but please don’t give Congress any ideas. There are far more useful and pressing issues they need to attend to. Anyway... good review. I am curious to test drive one. I wish it was a 6-cyl instead of the boosted four. Wifey has an Outback 3.6. I love the motor, hate the handling, hate the “image”. This Buick would eliminate the tree-hugging-lefty stereotype that Subarus have in the PacNW, handle dramatically better, and get better mileage. The question is whether I’d be okay with the 4-pot. I really like the smoothness of the 6, and it kinda tries to scream like a Porsche when you whack it open to pass on a 2-lane road (we live in the sticks, so that’s an everyday occurrence). Drove a Volvo with a boosted four, and the motor was unacceptably groany and grumbly for a “luxury-ish” car, utterly inappropriate and uninspiring. Glad to see more wagon options!

Now, even living in suburban Detroit, I have to admit that I have only seen ONE of these actually being driven, and it had a manufacturer plate on it!! Joshua Harazin tire technology has come a long way, as have drivetrain technology. Actually thinking about buying this in the used market. So basically this buick wagon is cosplaying as a true offroad vehicle yet still somewhat utilitarian...and thats ok. Good info 👍

Our kiwi version of this has a 3.6l caddy V6 and a few more interior additions. Underrated cars I reckon

Nice review! I'm looking to replace my 2015 XC70 T6 but don't like the new Volvo wagons. Options are the Jag at $72K or BMW 6 series GT (its wagon-ish) at $71K or drop down to the lower priced wagons of the Outback and now this vehicle. The Golf wagons are too small for my needs with two large dogs and luggage. I need to test drive this vehicle.

Wow never thought I’d want to buy a GM, much less a Buick, but I really like this.

I really like this car but I haven’t been able to find any tow rating. Anybody know what this can tow? Station wagons of old pulled campers and boats with ease!

I had a 73 Buick Regal wagon. Looks like they added new sheet metal and called it a day.

A very nice car. In the UK there was a version of this called the Vauxhall Sports Tourer - now, sadly, the parent company, FSA, have deleted it. The only option now is the hatchback version called the Grand Sport.

i think your trunk figures are wrong, 33 cubic feet is 934 litres and the Vauxhall Insignia estate (same car different badge) is below 600 litres and the volume with seats down isn't 73.5 cubic feet (2081 litres) its about 1600 litres. if you Americans have the passat estate the boot space with seats up is 650 litres

As a 22 year old I want to lease this. But I hope they maybe bring a N/A engine option with a RS trim level soon too? Also I don’t like that plastic around the wheels. Makes if look higher than it is. We’ll see for the refresh I guess

Wonder if gm is using Saab’s awd system in this car.
@huskerfan76606 жыл бұрын
Love the look, it just doesn't get good enough mpg. Our Volvo V60 is 33+, this one not even close, really. I don't care about AWD, it won't do you any good in winter.. I have had AWD in a small engine displacement before and it lacked A LOT of power when needed

Hey I like your video, I have a huge suggestion. In your review you should talk about road noise, wind noise, and how soft and comfortable the ride is. I feel that a lot of cars are just very stiff and uncomfortable to drive. I'm 23 years old and I drive a 1995 Lincoln Town Car, I refuse to give it up because I can't find a car as comfortable and smooth as that car. Even all these modern bench seats are very stiff and there's not much padding going on like you don't sink into the seat. If anybody has driven a Lincoln Town Car, please comment and tell me a car that has the comfort of 1.

in Australia it’s Commodore, it’s strange for you say interior is not up market as Commodore cross over come in top of range. I do agree seats should be heated/cool. Great to America opinion on the cross over 👍 now that GM sold the factory I wonder how long this product will be around for?

As a euro wagon guy I never thought I would consider a Buick but I'm legitimately interested on checking one out. To bad they don't make one with a boosted 5 cilynder.

Lol 7 inches ground clearance. I took my Outback off-road last weekend, the only mod: Yokohama Geolandar AT tires. The TourX won’t even make it to where the gravel turned to mud.

I’d say the car has more issues with finish rather than fit. The tolerances in terms of panel and trim fit are very tight. Paint finish is also very good. The choice of hard scratchy plastics and the drab grey look are negatives. And what’s wrong Or weird about integrated pedestrian protection?

What's with 4x8 plywood? I've been a homeowner for over a decade and never had a need for it. I built a shed once at my old place and used a truck. One time thing.

Bring back the Roadmaster. I own a 96 collectors edition that I hope to finish restoring. Oh it has cubby space galore and can take a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat.

GM is going back to cheapness with its interiors again. I cannot begin to understand why they're back to doing this again. I took a look at this car a few weeks ago at my local Buick/GMC dealer and passed on the test drive because the interior was so BLAH. My wife's 2016 Subaru Outback is MUCH nicer. I was considering trading my Accord, pass. Great video! Thanks for the high production quality.
