If it competes with an XC40 that means also with an X1 and NOT an X3. X3 is in the same segment as Q5, GLC and XC60! XC40 would be X1, Q3 and GLA. So which segment is it?

Love the fact that Cadillac does their touch screen integration into the dash not sitting on it like an after thought! Still not a seamless voice activated system but cue seems to be more responsive! Keep improving & stay committed to design enhancements/integration & you'll have much success!

They're optimized for the way most buyers will use them. What off-road capability is left is a fig leaf for the fact it's a $55k (with options) hatchback with extra height for easier accessibility.

And that's how skewed our idea of car height has gotten. Anything over five feet overall height should count as a tall car - I think the lowest four-door ever was the original Acura Integra at just over 50" OAH.

owned our luxury (base) level XT4 for 8 months now. We love it! Great power on highway and street, great blend between luxury and sport ride quality, and good size back seat and trunk. Down sides: the base model doesnt have seat memory (sucks with a short wife), the doors don't make a nice sound when they close (I think its the side mirrors rattling, that shouldnt happen in a luxury car). Other than that. I love my XT4 and highly recommend.

Plastic cladding has to be black. It's there as a styling trick to disguise floor-to-ceiling height as ground clearance/ride height. Maybe it'd look better if it were gloss black or very dark metallic gray.

10:40 - What the hell? Difference from the 'base' trim to the 'premium luxury' is an additional 20K??!? That's over a 50% hike! I'm guessing key options (that really should have come with the car as standard equipment in 2018) are rolled into 'packages', and the 'base' trim is just for advertising shenanigans. Never change, GM.

GREAT video, shows off the great lines of this CUV. No 4 cylinder of any kind should go into a Cadillac, ever. It's the heart of a car. And this engine screams "cheap." Pretty nice looking vehicle but that price tag is going to be tough. Opting out of AWD may save enough for the average consumer but many need AWD. However, no AWD means less weight and based on the powertrain will get good power-to-weight ratio similar to XC40. I would get the XT4 for power, size, decent fuel economy, and comfort for the price. The competition is really heating up. UX is coming into the picture soon too.

Personally, I think the team of Cadillac did a great job however at $55k on this model as it sits its a bit high I was thinking more in the price point of $40-45k max. I'm in the market for a similar size such as Lexus, BMW, Audi, GMC, Ford, I'm almost positive I going with Volvo XC40 T5 AWD R Design with the racing Polestar tuning.

A very nice looking smaller crossover. I seriously doubt they will sell many fully loaded 55k dollar versions. But, they will sell quite a few 45-47k dollar, nicely appointed versions. And, a great many base versions at 36k. In fact, this is likely my wife's next new vehicle. She currently has a late model SRX Luxury Edition and wants something smaller. XT4, you came out just at the right time for this guys wife.

The Fast Lane Car I Saw one of these on the road the other day. Caught my eye because of how different it looks. I didn't catch much coverage on the interior fit and finish from you. The commands you were using to control the temperature were probably not the right ones, which is why it didn't work. We'll see how it does in a crowded field. Lease payments on one will be interesting considering that they incentive the XT5. Most companies don' t like discounting a fresh brand new product, so it could cause some crossover payments.

I'd like to know how well the 9-speed transmission works, but you didn't say anything about it. The car seems to have a TON of interior noise (11:31 as an example), almost like a window was down or the A/C was blowing hard on your mic. What's up with that? You did Cadillac no favors with your presentation. And finally, we really need a basis of comparison for the rear-seat leg room test.

Do NOT confuse this with Escalade in any way. Puny engine, belt line too high, Back end should be squared off for more room with a 2 piece tailgate. So... What we did here was .... We took the mazda grill and put a caddy logo on it. We also took the turbo version Mazda CX7 motor and tweaked it just a little, basically we added a larger turbo and exhaust and adjusted the valve timing.....that's it. It rides on malibu chassis. Really the only thing distinct is the body panels, lights and seating. We did this to save money. Oh yea and we even used the shytty radio out of a new, Ford Escape. We really went for a botched version of the CX7 here and over charge the efff out of customers. 50k dollars , who wouldn't want one? Enjoy!

Could the touchscreen be any smaller! It’s an antique gas guzzler right off the assembly line. Love the way the voice recognition works! This is Classic GM.

My biggest bone to pick with Cadillac is they put panoramic sunroofs on every vehicle BUT THE ESCALADE! The one vehicle it should be on!

Most Chevy cars are fwd. Cadillac cars are awd or Rwd. They do not share same bases. Cadillac have their own body bases. So irrelevant comment there. They only share their engines.

The competition should be X1/X2, GLA, Q3, and XC40. Having said that, the European ones are a half size smaller than these. Same goes for the XT5. It's a bit larger than X3, GLC, Q5, and XC60.

I just test drove new XT4 today. It feels much better than XT5, seriously great peppy engine, great acceleration. Much better interior quality, decent optional Bose system, although it could've been better. Excellent infotainment system, touch screen is clear and responsive like iPhone. Where it lacks: terrible body roll while cornering (at least without upgraded suspension), rear legroom is average at best, rear seats are garbage - backs are too upright, no one can relax there or stay comfortable. Driver's right knee is rubbing the plastic trim of the center console, if you are 6 foot or taller, it will be a problem. Stock audio system is junk, it sounds like something from Chevy Cruze. Overall: good try Cadillac, but competition is way better. New RAV4 is going to be way better and much cheaper too

That white one is really nice. How about an XT4-V series, with a twin turbo V6, using the 3.2 V6 and not the 3.6 V6 with around 475hp and 495lbft with a sportier 10 speed, AWD or 2WD.

Everybody is complains about the cost but I feel like inflation has really taken off in the past few years. All new cars seem too expensive for the value proposition they are offering. I just don’t think people have seen the effect that low interest rates have had over the money supply the last few years. I think $50k cars are the new ~$40k cars.

Once you start talking 50 grand you might as well start looking at the Audi Q5 That same 50k can get you quite a bit in the Q5.

@@speedrcer1 Any vehicle can be haggled down, that's irrelevant. You go off the MSRP because that's the starting price of all vehicles. Why get the Q5 when you can get the XT5? After everything is said and done why even bother getting a these useless crossovers when you can just get a pickup truck for the same money?

U lost me from your opening statement 0:25 "Cadillacs have always been large." Not true. Don't U remember the early 80's Cimarron subcompact, the 90's Allanté, the recent compact ATS Series? None of these were large Cadillacs. So what they used to make some large cars. That was many years ago & was not worth mentioning today. Also this is not comparable to an Escalade. I now consider U the Joker 👺

Also, the 1985-1989 DeVille line was completely downsized in an all new FWD platform compared to the "big" you are going on about. These cars were considerably smaller. I though car guys were supposed to know about cars!

It looks really nice... the proportions are appropriate and fits well with Cadillac's "modern" design trend.
