RIP Nissan. You folks ran the company in the ground. The consumer does not need 5+ Crossover Cars you call SUVs. You killed off the Xterra, took the frame out of the Pathfinder, put a awful CVT in the Pathy, killed the manual in the Frontier, ran the Titan in the ground, which I owned 3. I can keep going. As a huge Nissan fan, and a old Nissan Master Tech it just upsets me what you all did to this company over 15-20 years.

You do realize everything you just criticized Nissan for doing ALL mainstream manufacturers have been doing, right? Honda and Toyota use CVTs. All have multiple crossovers. Less than 10% of the popular buy manuals, which has been the case for like 2 decades, so it wouldn't make sense for them to offer more manuals. These companies are simply making what sells best.

I owned one in college. 1986 1/2. I jumped it 17 times over 2.5 car lengths up at Happy Jack above Laramie WY in 2005. It had 225,000 miles on it. It was absolutely indestructible. I put on new headers and a clutch and new master cylinders (brakes and clutch). The lifters would stick a little. Had I known better about oxygen sensors and crankshaft position sensors, I would still probably have it (it would flood itself in gasoline during snow storms and run great in the summer so I sold it the next summer ;). It was glorious! I would be on commercials had we got it on video. I could have single handedly saved the Xterra and body on frame Pathfinder.

I love this era of 4X4, and I wish manufacturers would go back to making them like this (with modern touches of course). Body on frame, IFS front with solid axle rear. The new Bronco and 4Runner are a step in the right direction. Now if Nissan would get on board with a new Xterra and GM with a (proper) Blazer/Jimmy, and if Mitsubishi could get the Montero/Montero Sport back here we'd be set. This thing reminds me of my 1993 Mighty Max. Orange gauge cluster, square accordion shift boot, square everything. Way overbuilt. Even has a rear factory locker. One of the best eras in my opinion.

I have a four door 1992 Nissan Terrano V30 R3M. Japanese version of the Pathfinder (SE-V6). Same spec except it's an automatic. I'm a rural carrier for the USPS, I used to be on an 81 mile route, with 22 of those miles being dirt roads. At one point in the route, I had to call a rancher so he could come open his gate so I could drive across his field. When it rained, I was in 4x4 most of the time, but I never got stuck. If you ever truly want to test what a car is made of, have it run a mail route. Even easy mail routes are absolutely grueling tests of a car. But that damn thing never let me down. I'm not on quite as rural a route anymore, but whenever we have a Metris van break down (which is every day), I give my Metris to that carrier and drive my Terrano.

I am old enough to remember pathfinder’s in the 80’s being cooler than 4Runners at the time. They looked noticeably tougher too. Then for the second gen they switched to unibody which basically killed the appeal no matter how many African bush/safari type of ad/promotions they did. When they introduced the XTerra it was such a huge hit. Kind of like the original pathfinder, it was based on the truck (this time the frontier), it was relatively spartan and basic but had nice styling with its Land Rover like raised roof over the second row and it was very affordable in the market at the time. It blows my mind that Nissan doesn’t reintroduce the XTerra right now and follow that same formula, truck based, tough, nice looking, relatively simple, and priced aggressively. Make it a more utility style offroad focused SUV with…. Wait for it…. A V6. They would sell a ton of them.

Ah dang! Y’all were right in my back yard! How’d you like the Natchez Trace Parkway? I’ve always liked the Pathfinders. Handsome truck. 😊

I had a '95 Pathfinder LE. Last of this generation. Very capable, surprisingly comfortable, but a pig on gas. But for winter driving I found my next car, a Subaru Legacy with air suspension, to be far superior. I didn't have to constantly be shifting between 2WD and 4WD and manually switching the hubs.

I had a 93 Pathfinder 4 door 5spd about 20 years ago. Great vehicle. Wound up selling it to get a Toyota SR5 due to the need for a pickup. Nissan should've never strayed from that boxy stying. No newer Pathy generation looks anywhere near as good.

This was my childhood dream car but never got one. :( They're nearly impossible to find in good condition.

Love love love this pathy! Wish I could find one to match my 92 Nissan D21 I have. Would be the perfect combo.
