Those little toyotas will go forever. My dad drove a '97 for 12 or 13 years and 300,000+ miles before a rotted frame and busted transmission did it in. He once pulled my mom's Accord up a steep hill in 6in snow all the way home. Bulletproof little thing.

@@bradythegenius2123 I think it’s more Tommy hating Kase than Kase hating Tommy. TFL Classics was originally Tommy’s thing, but the relationship between Kase and David has Tommy on edge. Also, Kase is a great journalist while Tommy got the job because his father runs TFL.

Love both trucks of this vintage ,but my heart still goes to the ram. My first truck was 98 ram sport ext.cab(no clam shell doors) two wheel drive ,white. Comfy truck for me . Still miss it to this day.

I own an 06 Ram Cummins and it is completely worthless in RWD in the snow. And to wheel it on a trail is severe self abuse! But, put 10,000 pounds behind it and it's right at home. Off road? It's Taco time!

My brother and I recently took his linked dual case 1 ton Tacoma on 40 inch pro comps and arb lockers and two stock 3rd gen 4Runners to the snow. You'd be very surprised how much tires make a difference. One of the 4Runners followed nearly faultless all day on cheap 265 chunky mud terrains that were a no name brand from China. The other 4Runner had half tread Toyo at's and only got stuck twice.

I've got a tiny Tacoma of that era too. RWD, open diff low clearance, and it does pretty well in the Colorado snow. Wont plow through banks like my old Outback, but with good tires and 300lbs of sand it the back it does fine.

Torque on a slick surface will just cause more spin and less traction. Try driving a 700hp dodge charger in the snow with a difflock and you will see what I mean.

Get an access cab and take out the rear seats. Lighter, better payload, better mpg and you can use the back for extra storage space. That's the configuration I wish I got.

The Dodge wins, because I'm 6'4" and I KNOW I don't fit in the Yoda. Plus, I have a Dodge 4x4 1500 with the 5.2L gas and I know I like it. Carries a boat load of stuff while being VERY comfortable for me.

I just bought an entirely gold 01 Taco. It's a prerunner doublecab TRD. So it's rwd and really oddly optioned. No abs, no cruise but power windows, CD, and Tape!🤣

I was t-boned by a RAM3500 in my 96 Tacoma 2WD. So I'm biased, and I managed to survive. I miss my Tacoma. I get butterflies when a see a healthy 1st gen Tacoma. There are still a fair number of them here in CT.

Up to this day, people don't know the difference between HP and Torque. There is no horsepower without torque. power is work over time. Work is force X distance, and torque is the force in that equation.

Case, I hope you're getting that whole truck with business expenses! I believe TFL could pay for the truck and deduct that from your paycheck, effectively giving you the truck without having to pay income tax on the value of the truck before receiving it. That should work for gas, too. Only bc you're using it so much for your job; that ram is definitely "in the TFL fleet"!

Man, that little Toyota needs a LSD big time! I put one in my 2WD '98 Ranger, and honestly it should be standard in any pickup truck! For your truck that will likely spend like 75% of the time on the road as a daily driver, I would personally go with a Detroit Truetrac (torque biasing-style) or just a good ol' clutch type LSD. I'd keep lockers for a dedicated offroad rigs.
