@@hansolo5240 seriously? That's awesome! As long as it runs, the old ones will last a long time. I have a friend with a 98 4Runner with close to 400,000 on it, he puts over a hundred miles on it every single day. I'm seriously considering selling mine and buying an older vehicle, like a Tahoe, for three grand. I have this compulsion to pay mine off, and I'm tired of sinking all my extra income into it.

@@Rancherinaz Same. I have a 96' cherokee xj, and highway I have seen no lower than 19.5 mpg, and that was going over a pass, with new AT tires and 5 people with some cargo. Correction: I got around 20-21.5 mpg on that trip and I had bald tires and needed an alignment. I was also heading over that same pass after I got new tires, with 3 people and probably around 600+ pounds of cargo including the 3 people and got at least 19.5 mpg. That 4.0 definitely gets about 14mpg in the city, but I have been pleasantly surprised with it's performance on the highway.

I have 260,000 miles and have used it in Moab and beat the thing hard on thousands of occasions and only broke it once. I blew the reverse by my foot slipping off the clutch with 1600lbs in the bed and it revved up a bit.

I prefer the Comanche!!! I would unfortunately put much more money into it than I could ever get out, but still stay under $20,000, I think. Slightly larger lift, All Terrain BFGs, same size (better suit my needs and use is all), soften the suspension a bit, give it some flex, new front and rear axels, gearing, rear locker, front limited slip (again for my needs), and 4 wheel disc brakes. Rear bedliner, and turn down the exhaust so it stops melting the bumper! (I’m kind of perplexed why you fellas haven’t corrected the exhaust yet. Money appears not to be the issue.) The Comanche will always have that old school charm, I guess, for me! I really enjoyed the comparison and you can’t beat the interior of the Gladiator, but that is the only reason, for me, that I like the Gladiator, I otherwise just am not liking it at all. Keep up the good work! Tommy, you are doing so well with this great team of fellas! Thanks again!

Serated Atom - I have never owned one, but always admired them. Is yours still stock? They used to make the Eliminator in 2wd and 4x4. I always wanted the 2wd for a sport truck, but living in the country with 15 miles of gravel roads I passed on it. Maybe now if I find a nice one. I think they are pretty rare now. Gotta start looking I guess. Haha. I hope your Comanche is good to you for years to come!

@@shitloveaduck yeah its pretty stock the guy who owned it before me basicly used the thing as a work truck no more no less but he kept it ridiculously clean especially for montana the plan is to eventually put a decent lift on it and some nice tires and that's about it I don't plan to trail it hard but have enough accessories that I can have some fun offroad

The Camanche isn't the winner because it costs 45K less, it's the winner because it's design is iconic, simplistic, and beautiful, and because the truck itself is durable, reliable, and practically unkillable

This video brings back great memories for me of my red, two wheel drive 1990 Jeep Comanche 2.5L 4cylinder with a 4 speed manual transmission, 6ft bed pickup. I remember when I was test driving it, the salesman telling me that the engine was made by Isuzu and that it had more torque than the 2.8L 6cylinder engines had. My Comanche looked just like the one you have in the video including the interior even the color is the same. The dash is the same except that mine didn't have the sporty steering wheel. Which is kind of surprising when I think about it, because it had "Sport Truck" written on both sides of it in the pin striping. It was a very basic work truck, it didn't have air conditioning and it didn't even come with a radio, just a capped off hole for the antenna on the fender and a covered slot where the radio would go and of course no speakers, so I had to have that all installed on it. Plus it didn't come with a right side mirror which was happening a lot back in those days with companies getting cheap and it didn't even come with the rear bumper, I had to buy that from the dealer extra when I bought it. I put new mirrors on it myself. I bought it when I was 21 years old back in 1991 and even though it wasn't a 4×4, I took it off road a lot in my younger days. I had a custom built camper top on the back with a nice comfy carpet kit inside of it, that I enjoyed doing a lot of camping in, in the mountains of Southern California and In Arizona. The one thing that I really liked about it was that even though it wasn't a 4×4, it still had the same 4×4 suspension on it, so it had a lot of ground clearance for off roading and it was also under coated which I was surprised to see. I really loved that truck and I always enjoyed driving it even when I had newer vehicles. In the end I was mostly just using it to haul trash to the dump and stuff, because the horse power wasn't that great anymore, but it had over 200,000 miles on it. I finally donated it to a charity in 2017. It was still running, but because of the lack of horse power, I didn't really feel comfortable with selling it to anyone. I have been noticing the new Gladiators, I think they look very nice, I have been afraid to go to the dealer to check them out, because I know that I will end up driving home with one. Maybe eventually after they have a couple years to get any bugs they may have out of them. But I definitely like the look of them. Thanks for making this video, I enjoyed it very much👍🙂
