While I've owned 2 altimas in my life and both purchased brand new (1995 altima gxe 5 speed and a 2008 Altima 3.5SE V6 CVT) and I had bot of them for 7 years each and 120,000 miles I can give an honest evaluation. The 1995 was great and gave me minimal issues with only the starter going bad at 5 years. It was a great car minus squeaks and rattles. No mechanical problems and never left me stranded. The 08 altima had that big v6 that was amazing when warm but when cold was horribly unrefined and downright rough. It was bullet proof though. Within 2500 miles of owning it the car's entire HVAC unit when AWOL in the dead of summer. After several replacements of particular parts of the HVAC system they decided to gut the entire unit hoses and everything and install everything brand new from scratch. I never had another issue. Car was trouble free for the next 7 years. Changed the cvt fluid at 60k and everything else according to the maintenance. Traded it in before my cvt warranty ran out to avoid a potential big hit if the tranny failed. I will say this I was one of the lucky ones because there was a reason Nissan extended their transmission warranty from 60k to 120k. It was because there were a lot of problems. Hope that they got the bugs worked out. My experience was pretty good. But so many others were not.

This past September I bought a 2019 Altima SV nearly identical to this one in video, same color just minus awd. Bought the Altima on end of clearance sale since my 15 Chrysler 200 3.6 engine failed. After dealing with that ditsy 9 speed for 5 years, I welcomed this nice CVT. Altima's 2.5 Engine has nice amount of power for my needs, had found that nearly 300hp while cool and nice wasn't necessary. This Altima gets really good mpg's, I have had highway miles beyond 45mpgs a few times. Because I bought it at end of year clearance, I received a $7500 discount and was able to extend the warranty. For what I paid for and my needs, this is a nice car. I shopped around with other sedans and it came down to this Atima and Accord EX. It was a tough decision, but the Altima won out with me due to the better deals that I was getting.

I have a G37S and had a 2019 Altima as a loaner, and it wasn't bad at all. Very slow comparatively, but super comfy and I got almost 40mpgs on my one-day commute to work. It felt like a very passable commuter/daily.

I like the Nissan Altima. I bought one (in 1997). I'm still driving it. It's got 300,000 miles on it. I'm thinking about getting another one. I paid $12,000 out the door. To me $32,000 is a little steep. I think something around $28K or $29K would be more like it. Either way, I'll probably get one. It will probably take to the end of days. :-/

I always did like the Altima, I had one that had a 5 speed manual shift, that one was simply fantastic. I agree with Nathan,..when properly 'dressed' the Altima can give it's bigger brother ( the Maxima ) a run for the money. The Altima always had a spacious rear seat area too. I don't have one today, only because I need a vehicle that can tow stuff.

Nissan’s zero gravity seats are very comfortable but one thing I don’t understand is, why do they not market them??? My 2019 Titan has them, extremely comfortable, but it took ALOT of research to find out that they put them in the Titan!!! Nowhere on the Maroney does it mention it, nowhere on their website specs does it mention it. It’s hard to find. No cars specs on their website show them from what I could see. They are missing a great marketing opportunity!

I think the seats are better in the last gen, I owned one for about 5 months before the hail took it out. I had a rental 2019 while my truck was being repaired and the car was much improved especially body control and steering but the seats are to narrow and I'm not that wide. But compared to a legacy the altima a better feeling car.

80k trouble free miles on my 2016. I’ve only done one service 5k miles ago. I’m now at 80k miles, and it chirps wheels easy again. Still butter smooth as day one. Occckid123 has 300,000 miles on his 2016 original Cvt as well. I’m very confident I’ll make it as well.

Nissan has the best AC in the industry. Put it to 1 or the minimum level it is enough for the summer. Put it to 2 damn it is winter inside the car. I don't know if that info is known in the USA but in other parts of the world like the asia or sea market, nissan is known for its AC.

You should test drive it though. Have a Murano with the CVT and it's super smooth as butter. Plus when you step on the gas, it simulates a normal shifting transmission.

I recently had a Toyota Camry SE as a rental. It had 18,000 miles on it and I thought it sucked. The whole time I drove it I wondered where all the constant praise of it comes from. Lots of road and wind noise, handling not particularly sharp, had the 4 cylinder and the transmission waffled around trying to decide what gear it wanted to be in between 55-60 mph and the final straw was when I pulled it forward a few feet in a parking garage to reach the trunk. I had backed it in to the spot and it was near a wall. I moved it forward and when I applied the brakes it unexpectedly and inexplicably lurched forward another several inches before it stopped.

Its absolutely not nicer than a nissan maxima in my opinion. I've been in both as well and I find the Altima two notches below even a. Accord. I believe it's on par with a Camry but below a mazda 6 as well. Definitely below the maxima. The altima felt hollow and extremely plasticky. It's not a terrible place to spend time but certainly not best in class on terms of materials build and assembly quality as well as fit an finish. There are some mismatching trim pieces and rough edges. The seats are fantastic though the 2.5 is smoother than the last gen 2.5 which was a tractor motor basically and the 2.0 turbo is pretty good although honda's is better. The maxima interior not only feels several cuts above but I feel that it's made with far superior materials and its screwed together a lot more tightly! Just ny opinion. Two different classes of car and even in platinum trim the altima still feels like a rental car where the maxima never does.

Very well rounded back in the day. Also the price was very reasonable. Reliable. But now.. CVT ruins its appeal.

I drove someone around in my 261k mile 2016 nissan altima who was a subaru mechanic who said they have cvt transmission laying around all over the place and they have a bad oil consumption problem as low as 40k miles. Reliability? This car has great rebates also so you're not paying 32.5 but the only reason this car was that much may have been because of accessories or something because the higher model with leather and awd stickers for 33k

For me the quality is just not there anymore and Ive owned toyotas since the 80s . Nissan cars and trucks have really surprised me with quality and fun factor.

Doors on hondas and toyotas and Lexus' simply do not sound nearly as solid as they did 20 years ago. But as far as being in the repair shop more than routine maintenance....I'm sticking with the longstanding reputation of a company like Toyota. Honda as well. They both have had their hiccups but it doesn't change their history and reputation that precedes both of them when they are mentioned. Nissan will be nissan again when they get rid of their boat anchor that is Renault!

I'm sorry, but for $32,500, I'm getting the Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve, and a set of snow tires. I owned a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 S with a 6 speed manual transmission (bought brand new), and while I liked the car, it didn't leave me with any overwhelming desire to own another Nissan product again, but no underlying hatred of the brand(unlike my past Chevy/Buick/Ford/Mercury experiences). The Mazdas that I have owned, have all made me want to buy other Mazda products.

@@tonychau1983 Funny. I recently had a Toyota Camry SE as a rental. The whole time I had it I was wondering what all the praise is for. The thing sucked in a variety of ways other than fuel economy. I was in the market for a new mid size car and happen to have recently driven the Altima as well. I'd take the Nissan all day every day. It was smooth and the CVT was fine. A little weird when you floor it but its response for 99% of daily driving is fine. I've owned 2 Toyotas in the past. From my personal experience the claim of "bullet proof " reliability is not true. Had issues with both of them.

@@tonychau1983 I haven't bought anything yet but I will tell you from personal knowledge. Have had 2 Nissans in the family as well. All this talk of unreliable junk is also not true. I'd guess that 99% of these posters on this video and on every KZbin video talking shit about Nissan has zero personal experience or knowledge about what they are saying but they love to flock to these videos and repeat the same thing over and over.

@David Malinovsky CVTs are not as reliable as a standard transmission. I had an Altima and two transmissions failed on it. One failed in 14 months. I speak from personal experience.
