One thing I've learned when I watch people approach mud holes as they creep right up to it and almost sink themselves down into it. I'd love to see you get an old retro workhorse Kawasaki bayou 400 4x4 ATV from the early to mid 90's, and run it around the course for comparison. I think it would do almost as well in the muddy bits. Would be super useful to keep on the ranch to. I imagine you could pick one up pretty cheap these days. Not a high speed quad, but great towing ability with the super low gear :)

Looks like it would be fun to ride, but these new 4 wheelers are so freakin big. I think I'll stick to my 220 bayou. I had to replace the original tires, but that was only $300 since I ordered them online and a good friend had the tool for us to do it together. It’s going to need some basic maintenance still ($250-300), but you can’t beat it for the money. I’d love to come up next summer and give it a go. i have a 2022 850 i turned into a mud machine, snorkels, rad relocate, 30s, clutches. lots of other stuff. its... ok. there is great things like power and riding position with the engine turned sideways it feels like a motorcycle with the narrow seat. but there is bad things to, the clutch cover is on the back of the engine in a horrific spot to get to. you need to remove part of the frame to remove the belt cover, its absolutely stupid. the drain is also very hard to get to if you had water in your cover. you mention the good foot boards, there cheap junk. dont drain mud out the holes are way way to small, i had to take a dremel and make all the holes bigger so mud drained it was so bad i would actually have piles of mud on the boards and you couldn't stay on the bike standing up you'd slide off. the foot pegs, well there is none basically. there cheap plastic and dont grip your boots what so ever, i had to install rox after market steel ones. you cant put risers on it, they put the gauges on the bars, it really sucks as for riding while standing the bars are to low. the fit and finish is not great, the plastic is all cheap and kind of flimsy, its really unimpressive for the price. I almost forgot the shifter, its in a neat spot but like all Polaris's it just sort of bangs and flops around, it feels really bad, they really need to go to a gated system that shifts smooth like every one else is using these days there is more small nit picks i have to but for the most part its not a bad machine, it just took a lot of money and work to make it into not a bad machine. from the factory unless your cruising fire roads all day its not great. The renegade is a superior designed machine
